• It's a while since I've posted anything. I bought this on here in 2012 with the best of intentions (respray and Campagnolo rebuild) but other things got in the way and it's spent the last 7 years bouncing between different garages up and down the country. I need to get real. It's not going to happen.

    So...

1972/3 23" Raleigh Professional Reynolds 531 track frame

Classic British track frame made from Reynolds 531 tubing. Plain lugs; Campagnolo fork ends and dropouts; chromed stays, dropouts and fork; and Carlton cutouts on the bottom bracket shell.

It's in very good condition. There's one a small ding in the top tube but it's otherwise straight. It has been repainted at some point. Parts of the chromed rear stays must have been painted over and later uncovered as they are now pitted and in poor condition. The paint is useable, but it would be best off with a respray (in the original red/white/blue colour scheme IMO). The fork has been drilled for a brake.

It would originally have been fitted with a metal headbadge. I can supply one, should you want one.

    Spec:

    These came in 21", 22", 23", and 24" sizes. This is a 23".

Seat tube (ctc): 58 cm / 23" (ctc)
    Top tube (ctc): 56cm (ctc)
    Rear spacing: 120mm
    Fork spacing: 100mm
    Seatpost diameter: 27.2mm
    Bottom bracket thread: British
    Headset thread: British ISO
    Tubing: Reynolds 531
    Fork and rear ends: Campagnolo
    Serial number: G9428

Collection is from Shadwell, London E1 0AD. I could deliver it within reasonable distance but you'll need to cover the cost of my petrol. I do have a massive box so it could be posted but the price will depend on the destination.

    Price: £225

  • Beautiful frame 👍🏻Have a bump

  • Amazing. I'd get it just for that fork crown.

    Good luck with the sale.

Why on hearth were you planning on respraying it?

  • That's really nice, luckily it's too big for me. GLWS

  • I wanted to restore it to the original colours, like in the catalogue pic. I had all the other components and everything but just didn't get round to it.

  • Do you still gave all the components?

  • That'd be expensive repainting with all that chrome

  • Yes, and with three colours, though I think I planned to not bother with the lugs on the headtube. But, yeah, one reason why it never happened!

  • All the other components have been sold off, I think. I still have some Rigida box section clincher rims that I was going to use with the Campag hubs but that's about it. The Brooks Pro was nicked off another bike outside the Old Blue Last.

  • I've got a nice Galli/3TTT/Maillard pista and a GPM pista groupset if anyone's interested :)

  • I always hoped to see this repainted and restored... sorry to see it hasn't been.
    Lovely frame either way.
Hope alls good with you man, can't believe its been 7 years!

  • Yeah, me too. Other things got in the way and it never got done. I feel kind of bad about it, but I guess that's life. It is a lovely frame.

I'm OK. Hope you're doing well too!

  • Would it be possible for this to be posted to US?

  • is price negotiable? i live around the corner so can do swift pickup

  • Yes, price is negotiable. PM me.

  • Yes, postage to the US is possible, just as long as you're willing to cover it. I have a big box it can go in and plenty of packing materials.

  • Price reduction. Come on, this is a lovely frame!

  • Have a weekend bump, this is amazing!

  • my age, beautiful, could come pick up whenever as I work in Canary Wharf, but it's a) too big and b) I don't ride track frames :-(
