  • I kept getting a fail message when uploading.

  • I can't upload pictures either.

Your flint has the typical outer layer of cortex:

  • Ahh cool, thanks!
The only flint I’ve found before has been scrapers or arrowheads, I didn’t know it had an outer “casing”.

  • Alright, I need to get 4 boxes of the 20 sachet tea. Major retailers don't stock them and this is for a don't ask why favour from an ex boss so yeah gotta score some before he flies off on Saturday! Seen some on Amazon but would rather local so I could get it sorted tomorrow rather than wait for the package to arrive.

You've obviously never been to the beach in Sussex.

  • Not sure it is the relevant place to ask, but what would be the options as an alternative to Brooklyn Machine Works frameset?
Not interested in the brand in particular or anything, just digging the look of "kind of" fixed gear fresstyle with a little less tire clearance if it makes sense

  • scrapers or arrowheads

    Are you an archaeologist?

  • What was really interesting was going into Fan Bay deep shelter at Dover and seeing the layers of flint running through chalk, along with individual nodules here and there that take a weirdly organic form.
Some good chalk fossils down there too.

  • Initialing someone with a double barreled surname, would you go:

    A. B-C.
    A. B.-C.
    A B C
    A B-C

    Or something else?

  • .

  • Me personally? Or convention?

    I'd go;

    AB-C

    idk about convention.

  • Does anyone know what at what length M6 bolts start having shoulders?

(I'm after a 30mm socket cap head bolt, but ideally with a full thread. Can always cut more a thread if needed, but would also think of other workarounds if it's likely to have a shoulder)

  • Generally if it has thread along the whole length it is a screw, if it does not it is a bolt. But of course not everyone sticks to the naming convention.

  • I think the dark part in the screw illustration is a void as opposed to a screw point. If that is your query!.
Maybe more correct to call it a machine screw.

  • Bicycle bells. I don't care for the single tone ones, prefer the "rrringgg rrring" style (sorry for the technical jargon). Any recommendations? Something like the Crane Riten, but are there other favourites out there? Looking for a chrome finish.

  • Sorry but those are not available online, you will have to try local shops and explain what it is you're looking for vocally there.

  • Interesting.

I thought it was to do with whether is had a point (to be screwed into something) or flat (requiring a bolt)

Nonetheless, a 20mm m6 thing with an allen head has a thread the whole way up. Is a 30mm m6 likely to have a shoulder?

  • Went for this in the end. Wasn't worth reffing around, cheers mate!

  • When discussing online form design, is there an accepted visual and written shorthand for:

    • a form element from which user can select exactly one item
    • a form element from which user can select one or more items

without upsetting UX/UI people by constraining how they implement it?

I've called them 'single-select' and 'multi-select', but still seems to confuse people.

  • Maybe radio buttons vs checkboxes?

  • Ah pfffft just tell them the user can select one item from this list and one or more items from this list. And make it clear if they can select no items :)

  • Wat? There’s tons online, including the one I mentioned. I’m asking for recommendations.
