Hayfever

  • I see. But I had it bad until August last year. I guess it must be though. Otherwise, it'd be bad again now.

  • I had it earlier in the year, and now again, all of a sudden

  • Time to crack out the fexofenadine i've been hoarding.

  • So much pollen where I am, 5 minutes cycling, and my eyes are burning.

    Fexofenadine worth sourcing?

  • [Csb]Every bad day I've had (3 or 4) I've gone & stung myself on nettles and had a couple weeks without symptoms. Beats pills & sprays by a mile. The bad days are really bad but I'll take those over a season of itchy sneezy misery or daily pills & sprays and still itchy sneezy misery.[/csb]

  • I just accidentally stung myself whilst weeding a baby nettle the fuck out of my garden, so I’m going to test this hypothesis. I hope it works cos my hay fever almost killed me yesterday.

  • Any joy?

  • I never had hay fever in my youth, but got it after moving to London in the 90's. I never bothered taking anything for it but just had constantly streaming eyes during the summer, and have had it constantly since then.

Until this year, fuck knows how or why, but it has completely stopped, not even the tiniest tear all year, nothing. Obviously I feel for every hay fever suffer out there as it puts a downer on summers, but to have it miraculously disappear after 25 years feels like I'm a new man, its making summers great again, its so liberating I almost feel compelled to run through the fields like Theresa May.

  • Worst day I've ever had today. So much sneezing my face and abs hurt and I've lost my appetite, fecking pollen

  • Not really. Itchy eyes all day long. Fuck pollen.

  • Well, there's a thing. Have been working away on the new allotments and have been stung to sh*t last week and this weekend and haven't had anything like the running eyes / nose crap - so perhaps there is a link. Wouldn't recommend the 'treatment' mind you!

  • Still recommend probiotics. Not only do they give you no-wipe-wonders, but there seems to be some anecdotal autoimmune benefits. Still feeling it a bit this year but nothing that bad. Previous years have seen asthma attacks and all the usual terrible symptoms.

Also, avoid alcohol. That should be rule 1.

  • Also, avoid alcohol. That should be rule 1.

    Ah.

  • Needs more nettle stings?

  • Also, avoid alcohol. That should be rule 1.

    Fuck

  • I’m not sure I like this experiment

  • I've found it surprisingly hard to sting myself deliberately. Thankfully there are lots of nettles by the Strawberries at my allotment plot. Also on the trails I run.

  • I reckon so - quick trip to the GP needed but worth it being able to work outside without dribbling everywhere. Had a music festival to put on!

  • It's.

    Back.

  • Already? It's early!

  • Probably just a virus.

  • London is an exception when it comes to pollen though. Typically, London seems to get pollens way before the reat of the country. Birch in Febraury, for example.

And it's been mild winter, and we're in a heat island.

There are plants shooting & budding already, so a bit of pollen maybe isn't that farfetched.

  • Yeah, I had a little twinge of what felt suspiciously like pollen allergy yesterday.

  • Anyone else struggling a bit today?
