    My 2p, even without a load, the weight of the rack alone still help, my low trail bike never been ridden without a handlebar bag as it's pretty much integrated to the bike (still be able to take it off and on), what nice is that you don't think "I can't wait to take off the bag so I can have fun" with that geometry.

  • Yes, this exactly.
    I like to cycle camping. With a regular trail bike I'd look forward to dropping everything off at the campsite and then going riding. But a low trail bike combined with packing fairly light makes the ride there and back more enjoyable.
    That said, it's not necessary at all. Ride what you've got.
