It's summmmmmer and Thursday is set to be the best of the weather for the week. Let's go for a ride which is happily ride-out-and-ride-back-able for most.

28 miles of nicely rolling roads in and out of the fine forest of Epping. Expect to be disappointed by the mild, entertained by the karaoke and hopeful for free shots and a phone number.

Train out of Liverpool St 19.03 arrives Chingford 19.30 (oyster card, so no group save organisation necessary)

Return trains 22.10, 22.25, last: 22.40 (Earlier than usual. Bus replacement for the normal 22.55 and 23.25 services)

In terms of surface I think Fairmead road might be slightly better than Epping New Road?

Sometimes you've just gotta take the rough with the smooth. Much like the life of the cog over that of the cassette, Epping New Road is a way of life, not a choice we make.

I'm a maybe. Have delaminated both my shoes and my tyres with my mad power output at the weekend so am awaiting replacements...

Even the trails inside the forest have a better surface than Epping New Road

There's something a few doors down called 'The Essex House' now, which seems to be more of a bar than a pub.

At what time is the fried chicken leaving town and where from?
