  • Ohhhh kayyyyyy...

So, after some advice. Getting a small extension done, side return only so not going beyond the current back of the house. Just spoke to my neighbour, who I have kept well in the loop and already shared plans with, and she started banging on about the architects drawings being wrong, builders not knowing about party walls and how she would need her own surveyor. She is on the side where the wall isn't being touched, I think my party wall surveyors said they had no reason to contact her due to this (will double check).

I'm not keen on paying for her surveyor (I believe I may legally obliged to - but surely if the party wall is not effected that can't be right?), especially as the other side neighbour is on the verge of possibly being a pain too (after I signed off his loft extension without a care in the world).

We have had a decent relationship so far, I think she might have genuine mental health issues so want to tread a bit lightly otherwise I would be over her fence with a bag of frozen sausages and a hammer in no time...

Anyone had anything similar or know where I stand? Don't fancy being 1500 quid out of pocket because my neighbours are being awkward.

  • I hadn't, but again seeing as no work is going on within 3m of her house and nothing is being extended beyond the current out rigger there is nothing to report?

It looks like my current garden fence is slightly over her side than it should be but the architects have taken that into account and our cladding will stop at the party wall line.
