Just having a reminisce! I used to work at Perseverance in Padiham that wove, dyed and finished that Pertex fabric.

Them were the days! I didn't know Pertex was made there. As a kid mad on reading about climbing I used to love the fact that a lot of the stuff I'd see in pictures in books by Chris Bonnington etc out in the Himalayas & other exotic places was made in my home town.

Yeah, they used to make parachutes and typewriter ribbon too. They made various types of Pertex for Montane, Rab, Gore, Snug Pack, North Face and many others. Quantum was one of the lightest they developed. The mill has been knocked down now and has houses built on it.
Story of this jacket is I bought it 18 years ago & used it once on a winter bothy trip. It's since been sat unstuffed in a cupboard unused & needs a better home out in the mountains. Made by Yeti (Google them - their jackets cost £200-300) for Karrimor back in the day when they made quality stuff for climbing in my home town of Accrington! Quantam Pertex outer, polish goose down, removable hood, stuff sac, two hand warmer pockets, adjustable hem, size XL, red. Collection from Balham. £20.
