  • No sparkles. Just simple gloss. Probably blue

  • You’ve changed man.

  • The wheels are in motion on frame #2. This one’s not for me so I’ll be really paying attention and getting the details nailed on this.
Waiting back on a quote for materials but supplier is closed for the week.
Drawings and details to follow this week

  • who's it for?

  • So you can warn them off?

  • Did it myself in the end. Decided it’d be a waste of £100 if I had it painted and then it fell apart as soon as I ride it. I may get it done professionally in the future.

  • Right on man! You've come leaps and bounds. Now more importantly, what colour bartape?

  • Just black haha got silver finishing kit but black saddle so keeping it classy

  • You can't build the frame yourself and then send it off for someone else to slap a coat of paint on it... nice job, but darker than baby blue though no?

  • Dammit is building a fixie, Amey is spacer stacking and Phil is going baby blue. Things are in motion that cannot be undone.

  • After this, I’m recreating pengy

  • Congrats really nice, looks a lot tidier than mine. Looking forward to having a play with lugs on my next frame.

  • Don't know how I've missed this but just read through the whole thread, amazing work!

  • LBS didn’t have a reamer so can’t fit the seatpost in yet. Need to sand back the carbon forks to raw, find a silver CK headset, finish polishing the cranks, buy a GXP bb and riiiiide

  • Sweet!

  • Mmm fast back stays. Looks great man. Can we expect any logos or a headtube badge?

  • Not at this time, maybe in the future.
My name Rooney isn’t really cool enough to feature on the downtube and obviously I don’t have a brand so I’ll leave it for now.
After a few frames I’ll maybe consider putting some kind of maker’s stamp on them

  • Is your mother's maiden name any cooler? Thats what I'd do.

Careful sanding the carbon forks. Gotta sand evenly and lightly. Some recommend only using a blade.

    Also protect your lungs.

  • Jones 😂
Yeah I might give the blade a go, I’d rather not breathe in carbon dust if I can help it

  • Lol,

Never done it personally but I figure a razor blade (snapped in half lengthways or single edged) would work well as they're flexible so can match the tube shape a bit more.

  • Inspiring stuff this - you'll always be secure in the knowledge that you built your own bike.
One of life's small but extremely satisfying experiences - one that i can't wait to fulfill myself one day soon.

    Rooney’s Kitchen

The possibilities are endless, you just gotta believe. I vote for Rooney’s Kitchen.

  • White bar tape and the fork will look fine. Sanding or scraping down forks is grim, never worth it.

  • I can’t do it. They gotta be plain black and I hate painting
