Picked this up on eBay - belt by Greg Fuquay who apparently used to be build serotta. Nice wishbone stay. Anyone know anything else about him?
Thinking I’ll stick drops, gears and some 30mm slicks on it

Sorry for asking here, but do 9s Shimano road derailleurs (Sora 3400) and 9s MTB shifters (Deore for instance) work well together? Afaik things only got fucky after 10s, right? Thanks in advance!

Yep, they'll work well together. Used to be my go to set-up as a young lad to get a cheap short cage mech.

Oooo Dave from Clever Mike has a MTB by him. As far as I can recall he was an US Airman mechanic stationed in the UK who started building bikes in his spare time, lived here for a while after leaving the USAF and then went back stateside.

I 3D-printed some bearing presses, worked pretty well but aligning the bearings before pressing took a couple of tries.

Quick snap of the SABA frame that @crillz sold me earlier this year, now running as a knockabout town bike. Thanks also to @walkmanman for the RD-M772 'low-normal' rear mech which paired up ideally with the SL-M770 shifters that I had to hand, along with many of the other parts — including the FC-7400 cranks which had been run single on my Tom Board fixed for 30+ years (now has 7600 as originally intended). Thanks to @NorthLondonLight for acting as intermediary for the frame purchase!

The previous reincarnation of adding mudguards didn’t result in any more use of my Argos so decided to turn it into a canal path cruiser/pub bike/fair weather commuter. Will get a 32c gator or something similar for the back (that’s 28 on there) .
Fixed gear, 2 brakes... loads of fun, @edscoble proved right again.

Quick update on this unusual french 80's carbon prototype frame...
This comes from a guy whose brother used to work (he passed away) in the R&D department at Motobecane in the late 70's then MBK in the mid 80's.
It is a MBK carbon/TVT prototype (when they were trying to do what TVT / Vitus were doing with carbon tubes and metal lugs back in the late 80's ).
Based on the info I have, it is tubes in Verre Tissé - 'tubes in knitted glass'. Similar to the TVT original frames made in the early 80s which were called "TCT"
Unusual as the lugs are steel and not alloy. 3 carbon/glass main tubes , the rear triangle is steel.
BB shell has P stamped on an some other indecipherable text which would be readable if the paint was stripped.
Forks are alloy with the legs painted black to match the frame - they look like Kinesis ones.Frame measurements is 55cm TT and 54.5cm ST.
Gearing is 2 x 8 speeds
Equipment is a mix of Shimano 600 (6400 Headset, seatpost, FD, RD) and Shimano 105 (5500 chainset, SLR brakeset, shifters).
New SRAM 8 speed cassette & lightly used Bontrager wheelset.Did the maiden voyage this morning and this is a really lovely frame which rides really well!
