Look pretty easy! Funnily enough my ska 7" are my only real treasured items in the "collection".

Don’t use cheap pva!!!
-
• #529
Now you're going to say I need audiophile PVA :-(
-
• #530
There is an audiophile version! Michael Fremer tested it somewhat unsuccessfully.
-
• #531
Do use cheap pva! Or rather, use the kids PVA.

the stuff i used didn't peel off in one go and was an absolute pain in the ass. i still have a big bottle somewhere if anyone wants it...

Another link to some vinyl junkie related stuff. A meandering interview with Chad Kassem who runs Acoustic Sounds. Answering a lot of questions about the record pressing business.
-

When I've done it before, I think I've used stuff from The Works. The washable, non-toxic stuff. More glue is better, for peelability. As long as you leave it to dry for long enough.
A mate did it with wood glue once! Luckily it wasn't one if his raers, of which he has some very £££.

Ha, reminds me of the mate who sprayed the insides of his lovely new vintage hi-fi amplifier with WD40 and was then surprised when it went up in flames... I laughed about that one for weeks...
-
• #536
Yikes! Stupidest I've been with hi-fi equipment was taking an old amp apart with it still turned on (I forgot it was plugged in). It had a piggy-back power supply, which I took a tasty jolt from.

Acoustic Sounds
Whatever next?
-
• #538
Not sure what you mean?!?
Most vinyl junkies know Acoustic Sounds (store), Analogue Productions (label), QRP (Pressing plant). IMO they are better quality than MOFI despite being slightly less well known outside of that world.
There are 2 interviews where he covers in depth the process of high quality pressing, the tribulations and the story behind his ownership of the company. He's been in the business since the advent of CD's.

I was just joking about the pleonastic name.
-
• #540
I'm in a very literal mood, got there eventually though. If you listen to the interview it gives you an idea about the man behind the name. Somehow he has found himself running this 100 employee company out of his vinyl habit.

I’ve listed some vinyl for sale in the classifieds.

There is no point in buying mediocre vinyl if you can avoid it. Better
off spending £70 for a VG+ original of a great album than three crap
copies of a 90's runner up.what original's of great albums are you picking up for £70 ? Like no stones beatles coltrane stooges, zepplin even like 90s 'runner up's' stereolab LPs are selling at like 70 a pop. Seems like such an arbitrary number... Sure you can buy neil young and band Lps for about that.. Also which 90s albums are you picking up for like £25 a pop, like mid 90s major label and even indie vinyl is selling for way more than that. Sold a shit 90s morrisey LP for £200, because in the 90s no one was pressing vinyl. Loveless is like a £200 LP at this point and flashback are selling a used 2018 repress for like £130. I find this a really statement super odd. I need to understand! Sorry for the rant.

I'm basing that on my own stuff, last time I checked. Oasis, Blur, U2, FSOL all early 90's, it's post 96 when vinyl stopped getting released. Not sure what happened early 90's with smaller bands. For £70 you should be able to get a 1st Jamaican press of Blackheart Man for example.
£25 I'm talking about represses. Urban Hymns for example. It was a reply to a comment about the quality of some reissues.

If anyone ever has any rare jungle they want to shift, I'm always looking. I have cash or vinyl to exchange.
-
• #548
I've got stacks from mid 90s to 2004 or so.
Have you got a wishlist?
-
• #549
Still got that one if you’re interested.
Lots still there. Going to leave them on here for 1 more week.

Anyone used the dubplate cutting shop in Peckham?
You're welcome, always happy to help a fellow junkie :)
