  • Horse stable door indeed.

Also, and what? Has anyone ever been in actual meaningful trouble over dodgy contributions anyway?

  • Lots of fines around referendum but the criminal investigation into vote leave.eu is "in progress" since last year.

So...not really I guess unless you count fines.

  • 3 years ago today

  • And yet the will of the people has still not been implemented. I’ve grown my lawn long in anticipation of my unicorn delivery and eaten all the cake in my fridge expecting it to still be there when I look again. But I have no unicorn and no magic cake.

  • You need to believe more. More more more.

  • Unicorns don't eat grass, hence the delay.

  • They eat cake, hence the lack of cake...

  • They eat cake, hence the lack of cake...

Holy shit. This explains so much.

  • The 'cost' statistics from all sides of this argument (granted this comes over a lot more from one side than all of the others put together) just seem to be a big game of 'What can I get away with including and what can I justify leaving out with just the most tenuous of reasons to suit my own argument?'. Sadly I can't recall I have seen something that looks reasonably considered and we are how far down the line?

  • The latter figure is the shortfall between the tax and national insurance the 3.6 million migrants and their jobs deliver, and the £10,500 p.a. average cost of public services

Bullshit. EU immigrant are contributing more in taxes/NIC than the average UK population atm.

The other areas on "UK -may- have to pay out on Eurozone debt" sounds like a "needs more info"

But, assuming it -does- cost a billion a day it then has to be offset by the costs of leaving on whatever deal they assume.

  • Living in NI I've heard several people that lived in England and an English mate of mine here say "they don't really understand NI" Scottish/Welsh people may have a similar experience.

But this "not understanding" combined with England-only nationalism seems to have turned into full out hostility now for some :(

  • It's because of one of those common misheard phrases (like "you've got another think coming" where most people hear/say "you've got another thing coming").

Most people hear/say "You can't have your cake and eat it." but in reality it's "Unicorn have cake and eat it."

  • As you know, I live here too. I don’t understand it either and that is after 51 years of the place!

  • NI: The place that drives you mad :p

  • I lost the plot a long time ago!

  • Who are Global Britain? My fake news senses are tingling...

    Edit: Yup, highly biased:

  • Can’t see any data. Clearly written from an angle. Clearly written fucking terribly - ‘This stab-in-the-back on UK voters’

    I’ll stop being a filthy #elitist now.

  • The top government official in charge of no-deal Brexit planning

    , 33,

I'm trying not to sound like I'm casting aspersions on Mr Skinner's ability, and it's possible I'm just projecting onto myself at that age, but doesn't 33 sound a little young to be in charge of a massive change project? Like, perhaps, a few more experienced hands may have turned it down before him?

  • Guessing he was the first sucker to say 'Yeah, I'll do that, sure...'

  • I'm sure plenty of people turned it down. A friend is one rung below senior civil servant and has a lot of experience with the UK and EU courts and there were a few overtures to her from the Brexit dept a few years ago.
She politely declined, and less politely said to me there was no way she wanted that shower of shit on her CV.

I don't think there's anything wrong with someone 33 leading something. Plenty of useless 50 year olds and useful 33 year olds

  • The JD came my way a while back and it was toxic as fuck. They were either going to hire an expertlly experienced certain failure delivery person (such people do exist) or somebody hoodwinked into thinking that they could manage the flak and they weren't paying enough to get the former.

  • 33 is probably much too old. What do they often say? 'We should have children in charge of the world ...' :)

  • hire an expertlly experienced certain failure delivery person

A lot of consultancy is about being hired to fail.

You don't get fired for hiring a big hitter from Accenture or one of the other big consultancies
