Poor old Strauss
No shame it getting out to that ball, it even drifts away before it pitches.
2005 was a vintage Ashes as well

Just ok?
I specially commissioned those words from an artisanal wordsmith, which was an incredibly taxing process i’ll Have you know.
i’ll be complaining to them now that they haven’t met with universal praise and likes, because thats their fault

So very true
The tried and tested way for the modern, responsible partner, to deal with any minor irritating life situation.
You must feel so fortunate to have this option open to you in your own life now, before it must have been so hard.
I can’t even remember what it was like!

Well written post.
I once nearly got arrested in Paddington Station because Someone chipped my newly resprayed bike in the middle of the TT by letting their bike run into mine with untaped bars. I lost it, I get it, but now I look at that chip and it makes me feel embarrassed/chuckle at my self.
This paragraph is very true.
In a way I am always relieved when I my bike falls over for the first time etc, I can stop being so precious about it and get on with riding.

Ta
I can stop being so precious about it and get on with riding.
If I remember correctly that’s the very same advice that I received at the time after I angrily posted on social meedja 😂

This is why I almost never buy new or expensive bikes. I've ridden my Madone a handful of times. Mostly in jeans. In fairness I'm not really a carbon road bike kinda guy.
Also when I buy new trainers I keep them in the house and wear them indoors only for a good few months. That way when I inevitably scratch them on first outdoor wear its not a problem as they're not new anymore.

Not quite sure why I wrote all that
Glad you did. I thoroughly enjoyed reading all of that.

Best thing I did with my custom frame was to scratch it on the second ride - once it was scratched I was free just to get on with riding it. Ideally all frames should come pre-scratched.

Its a legit complaint that
I would say that framebuilders should be pre-scratching as standard and at no extra cost.
