32mm tyres on old school normal width rims?
Define old school normal width?
I say chuck them on there. 23mm is rubbish. Worst that can happen is you have to change them back.
Relevant question is relevant. There's a world of difference between 13mm and 16mm internal widths, either of which might count as an unfashionably skinny rim.
