  • cool fadez / graficz - and the best version of the giant logo
    nice.

  • My Cross-Check is soon coming back from disc brake conversion. Want to paint it with Hammerite, but I don't have access to a media blaster and are too lazy to remove all the old paint by hand. Will Hammerite bite to the remaining powder coat, if I sand it down a little?

  • I’ve painted hammerite over racks with no issue.

  • Is it wise to space out a BB386MegaExo bottom bracket to clear the chainstays on a bike with a 73mm shell? Or should i just buy a 36t chainring and pray it clears

  • Given the use/abuse it'll likely take i'd use some zinc/anti rust primer first, it'll help build the paint up to the existing level as well. If it was powder coated it might be a little trickier to feather the paint in but i'm sure you'll be fine.

  • This box has just arrived.

  • That’s a lot of wine glasses.

  • Nah, it's at work, and I want to go home.

I'm in tomorrow, so will open it then.

  • How do people do this? I don't have that amount of self control.

  • I hate unpacking frames.

It always takes ages. If I get frustrated and rush it, I could easily scratch or drop it.

Best wait ‘till tomorrow when I’m a bit more chilled.

  • Such a tease.

  • When have you bought too many bikes? When you’re no longer desperate to open the box as soon as it arrives.

No doubt this is gonna be nice whatever it is though

  • Just finished putting together my touring/commutery thing. I initially painted this bike ~10 years ago when it was gonna be my first 'fixie' but thankfully realised the geom was way off for that. It ended up being my touring bike and has done a fair few tours now. The rattle can job got very tatty so recently resprayed it and updated a few bits.

One summer when I was home from uni I decided to weld up some goofy bars that have four brake levers, I have ended up keeping them (and surprisingly actually enjoy using them) . The bike has always been on the large side for me, however I find it very comfortable and am yet find the desire to upgrade to something decent which weighs <1000 kg. Anyway, my attempt at turd polishing!

  • Power coated racks? That's promising!

@jono84 But isn't Hammerite an all-in-one product that can be painted over bare steel? Tho', it might be an idea to get the base paint level, whether it's powder coat or primer.

  • Good bike, good story. MTB thumb shifters?

  • It has just the one set of shifters (the STI's), but both the STI and deore brakes levers pull some mildy modified calipers.

  • Goofy but super cool! What bars? A simple drop handlebar + two bar ends up the middle or?

  • Just some super old steel drop bars, with the ends of some other bars welded on!

  • Crazy! I love it haha!

  • Over whatever crap paint Nitto uses on their racks.

  • Some long-awaited bits arrived recently.
The project is just over 1 year old at the moment.
