no, the ultimate road tyre® is the near-mythical 700x40c voyager hyper, black, 120tpi, stuff of legend

I am on Marathon Supremes. It was a a pig to get them on (mavic Ksyrium allroads), and quite a bit of work to seat them with a compressor, banging them around to pop the bead in all the places
that said no punctures in ~1000km

What compressor do you have?
Thinking about buying one, for tubeless but other things too. Looking at a 24l draper for around £100. It comes with air gun and paint gun etc.... Oil free and won't see a great deal of use but I'm loathe to spent £50 on yet another track pump when I can spend a bit more on something that will do a lot more.

I've got the parkiside model that LIDL did on one of their specials, which sadly it means they don't sell them anymore, they do pop up second hand occasionally. It's almost certainly rebadged version of another existing cheap model, but it was £90. It works a treat.
FWIW, my dads a mechanical engineer and his take was that at the lower end, there's likely to be very little practical difference between any of the models around £100. I've seen near identical 24-50l clarke/draper etc. models pop up on gumtree/ebay for £40-80 in the past. Depends if you want to risk buying 2nd hand though, if -like me - you only use it for blowing up a few tyres, it's probably unlikely to go wrong any time soon.

Thanks. Good advice. I've been looking locally but not much has come up. Tempted to treat myself to a new one.

Just checked my posts on here.
Went 9 months ago to platypus. -

Unfortunately I dont, I went to micycle to use theirs as I am a member. Means that if I change tyres I have to go back there so I’ll probably end up getting one of those canisters you fill with a track pump
Come to think of it it wasn’t a proper compressor they have, it’s a zefal thing you pump up. Probably why it was such a hassle

Am having trouble keeping air in my tubeless set up and had a shop look at it. Setup is WTB i23 and 38mm Gravelkings. Mechanic said "yeah I don't know about this combo, tubeless technology has come a long way in two years."
I thought they were good choices to work together? Just a shit set-up or actually bad combination? -

youramericanlover, I'm not sure about the rim compatibility, but you could try a few ounces of sealant and filling the tires with nitrogen gas. Nitrogen is less likely to leak through the rubber.

Ok cheers, I'll see what the shop says. Thanks

Nitrous Oxide? Now we’re talking!

I'm sorry, you're going to have to elaborate for the layperson.
- Where does one procure nitrogen? LBS, Lidl?
- How do you rig it to a Schrader nozzle?

I'm really into cyclocross, and everyone wants to make their bike lighter and I've just stumbled across helium filled tires! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8upKwOrXRU
. Has anyone tried helium in their tires? I'd be interested to know how long the tires lasted. -
• #3023
I'm fairly sure helium molecules are smaller than oxygen so escape through rubber more easily and the wheels don't stay inflated.

Look at the date that video was posted.

I see! They would deflate immediately haha
I followed him to kojaks. And then to Marathon Supremes.
I am a disciple.
