As an update to my lumpy GravelKing: I got round to pulling it off the wheel today, the innermost layer had separated from the rest of the tyre almost 1/3 of the way round. Panaracer don't warranty directly and passed me on to the UK distributor who also don't deal with end-user returns so it's heading back to Germany.
