Looks very nice. I wonder how this kinda bike rides vs modern cro-mo turing/all around bike.

Bad. 😅 But it takes me everywhere I need/want to go.
Next bike will be an upgraded version of this basically, but with the same esthetic/style.

Just as bad but more expensive?

• #21605
Worse, hopefully.

at least looks great 👌🏼

But would say the tyres are a little too wide if I'm being honest.
Internet tipping point.

For the guards I meant!
New bike will have 2.3" slicks. Not sure how those are gonna fit with guards, but that's a problem for later.
And thanks @kamilw.

Obvious answer is obvious

also expensive

What about the ride? A friend's just starting out as a framebuilder and I've been tempted to ask her to build me a towpath tourer/rough-stuffer along these lines.

I’m pretty tempted on putting honjo’s hummered fenders on new bike, but i guess gilles berthoud is more resonable alternative - just a pain to instal.

Flat
Pass. Think I'm gonna wedge them in some Honjo 60mm ones. Thanks for the suggestion though!
@Thrustvector: I'm underselling it, but it is heavy, has very thick tubing and is not designed for a front load. Still love it though.
My favorite picture with the bike in it:
Last summer on the CTC route, just on the north edge of the Lake District.

Have you considered the velo orange stuff?
I have a pair of hammered VO-mudgards on my commuter and they were no harder to install than sks bluemels. -

Need to see how wide tyre can i fit and i wish to have them in black. I use g-one 40mm, but wiuld not mind to try gravel king sk 42mm.

The trouble I had with the Honjos and wider tyres is that they had a much 'deeper' wrap around. This meant I had to sort of bend them out a bit and have them higher over the tyre.
FWIW, the best I've found fit wise for 650 wide tyres is actually the VO 26" fenders. They seem to be much more generous and with a light bit of massaging they fit excellently (650 x 2.1).

You must have been trying to fit non-forum approved size combos

This was basically my goal for the Kepler (90s aesthetic with 700c and 1x) but been mainly riding my genesis cos disc brakes are so much better for commuting/ in the wet. (I live at the top of a big hill)

Is this a 61cm frame? Let me know if you ever wanna sell!
-
• #21620
It is a 61cm frame, I probably do want to sell (due to aforementioned lack of use). PM me if you’re interested.

Cool! Pm'd you

Currently waiting on a Tubus Logo Evo for kitchen-sink style touring, otherwise prepped for Summer shenanigans.

Very nice. What size chainrings are you running, and, does the front derailleur shift ok (with it being quite a way off the outer ring)?
-
• #21624
You could start with a 700c 60mm GB and ease out the curve in the profile a bit. This should, in theory also bring down the diameter, so you'd get a flatter, wider 650b guard

Looks fantastic!
Well you can replace chainrings.
