• I found some relief from slugs by deploying a wide ring of friable material. The best was the seed husks of roasted pumpkin seeds, torn into smaller pieces. I found a couple of large snails and slugs,
    'shipwrecked', their foot had an almost complete covering of the pieces of husk, and they could not move any further. The ring of material did require freqnet topping up, if it got wet from rain, and the birds that visit our garden seemd to enjoy turning it over, and leving the ring incomplete.

    Encouraging beetles, who predate slugs, is also recommended.
