Very tidy. I love the shallowness of the dial on these, it makes the rest of the watch look like it’s quite dense, in a good way.

Non fake. Thanks to ejay.
And, to clarify, the grass is cut!

@freddo cheers for the info. Looks so nice in this colourway (https://www.omegawatches.com/en-gb/watch-omega-speedmaster-automatic-date-st-175-0043) and I love the size so that's a shame about the movement :(

@inchpincher @ejay2.0 that's the one, cheers

Nice watch, nicer rolling stock

Is that not using the bog standard ETA chrono movement that all those chronographs with subdials at 12-6-9 have? Is there something awkward about it?

Having posted the last post with a pic. I explained the discussion here to my wife. That was a waste of 23 minutes of my life. It would appear, according to her, a waste of a similar amount of her time too.
Watches ..... who knew they were complicated. -

I thought those Grand Seikos which people like here were Rolex homages? Nobody seemed to complain about that.
I couldn’t care if people wear fakes. Most fakes are copies of watches which are common as muck, so not particularly interesting anyway.
I may have mentioned this before, but I know someone who works for Rolex, at their UK service centre. He told me about the Tudor fakes which were being sent in for servicing (cringe). Apparently they were very, very similar. Throw in one that uses an ETA movement and your up shit creek.

What's the story with fakes sent to ADs/HO for repairs? They just sent back? They're confiscated and burned out back in a pile with all the other fakes? So you then recieve a letter saying you've lost a watch?

What is a Tudor but a Rolex knock-off with an ETA movement?

Burn!

Honestly I’m just repeating stuff I read on the internet.
The base movement in the reduced auto date seems to have had a separate chrono and a separate date tacked on.

The explorer is nice but that Sea dweller is gorgeous and if I were you i wouldn’t sell it. History and provenance is increasingly valuable as prices of these old divers are going through the roof.
Else, dibs :)

Yeah I definitely don’t know much about it, I’m just going by the dial layout and google.

Ha!
-
• #36017
Haha, honestly I think the main reason they’ve started investing in making their own movements in the last few years has been the threat of the Swatch group turning off the ETA tap.

Reading this fake conversation has been very interesting.
Anyone wanna lend me $10,000 for the Grail? 321. All original everything. Running perfectly. Uhhhgghgghh.
A link for anyone interested.

This.
However I do find it fitting that the OG snowflake has more kudos than any Rolex now. 😎 💪

I was at a mates bbq yesterday and noticed his little brother was wearing a very shiny Rolex Daytona and his mate had a PP moonphase, these were undoubtedly both reps. Given that they like to hang out in swanky restaurants and clubs around Chelsea where other clientele may be wearing the genuine article it struck me that they may inadvertently be putting themselves in danger if someone decided to mug them for their man bangles... 🤷♂️
I have to admit that I do form judgments about people but am happy to be wrong, and always give the benefit of doubt but it’s the shit shoes that give the game away... -
• #36023
Very funny also. Define shit? I know someone who was wearing a Daytona yesterday with a pair of Nike's. That okay for you? 🌞

• #36024
That’s fine - topman desert boots and glasses with clear lenses are a no...
