Thankfully I don't get many of those, helps a bit that I'm so tucked away from everyone else that by the time they have dragged their wounded to me they usually don't get hung up on price, just the 'when'.
I think a lot of customer's I get are quite aware that they need to support their local otherwise their going to have to go further afield.
Found a few times its cheaper for me to buy some of the less common components from amazon and others even including shipping + adding extra faff time for dealing with their delivery people than it is to buy from UK distribution.
A pound shop nearby had a box of genuine shimano SPD-SL yellow + blue cleats for a quid a pair (inc vat), bought quite a few of them! Certainly cheaper than the £10+vat they are from the UK rep.
