Unlikely. Chelsea are relieved from their contractual obligations (Conte cost £9 million to get rid of) and off loading a failed manager. Why would Juventus pay to take on a fag munching retired bank manager. No. Chelsea are paying them to take him off their hands. Best deal of the summer.

off loading a failed manager
Genuine question: do you expect better than a third place finish and a trophy next season?

Paging Derby £4m for Lampard who they can’t really afford seems odd.
I’m assuming Jody Morris will come as part of the same deal.
Should I be excited to have ex players and academy coach leading our first team? The CL and PL are a big step up for both of them.

I’d expect us to finish outside the top 4 and not get out of the CL group stage.
Probably playing some decent football and giving more game time to academy players until our transfer ban is over.

Football played with belief and passion. Football played with the same commitment that supporters have. Football played with a desire to win.
We finished 20-30 points behind the top two. Almost closer to relegated clubs. The only reason we were third is that Arsenal, Tottenham and ManU screwed up.
We lost 4-0 to Bournemouth and 6-0 to City. We eere 2-0 down in a cup game to Man U with 10 minutes to go and we substituted a right back for a right back. We gave up.
We played better more enjoyable football in Div 2 in the early 1980s.

Everybody finished 20-30 points behind the top two. They were miles better than anyone else this year and it showed.
Your other points may be valid.

The question included “better than a third place finish”. The answer is not missing out on second by a chasm. That is, I am confident, a valid point.
In the meantime, Fat Frank is in talks with Derby about a contract extension.

A new manager isn't going to help close that gap.

Who’s on your wish list for next manager Mr. o?
-
• #150487
He may close the gap between the supporters and the club. That would be a start.
Sarri took the club backwards on the pitch and far backwards off the pitch.

Not really into such speculation.

So you can't admit you want Benitez back...

Too soon to imagine Lampard doing a Souness and breaking the club he was a legend at?

The practice became controversial when Badminton New Zealand used the name "Black Cocks" for a period in 2004.[2]
hope you made that up Damo. I laughed out loud .

I really want us to keep hold of Frank, but can see him really wanting to prove himself at Chelsea before too long.
I don’t think he would do a terrible job, but he is far from the finished article and has been guilty of getting tactics and personnel choices wrong on quite a few occasions.
Bielsa did a number on us 3 times out of 4 last season and Villa knew exactly how to deal with us too. Lampard was quite one dimensional in his approach, which is to be expected as a rookie manager without much coaching experience either.
Lampard and Morris have really helped turn the club around from style of play (thankfully) after a tortuous season watching Robert-ball and Morris has been involved in getting our academy into even better shape. I’d love them to continue to do that for another year or two.
I can’t see Lampard getting Chelsea any closer to the top two than Sarri did. Maybe he needs another year with us to show what he has learnt and then he can replace Benitez/Nuno/Whoever after a 5th place finish and a champions league win.

^This, Benitez has unfinished business at Chelsea, last time out he won on the pitch but not off the pitch. This time he will be better attuned to winning the hearts and minds of the supporters as well as the silverware. Hell, if he gets it right they might even name part of the new ground after him. I could see that, people nipping off to the Benitez just before t’half time whistle to beat the rush.

You have odd fantasies TwoTents. Shouldn't you be off demonstrating?

He's doing a terrific job of demonstrating what an idiot he is...

Lampard possibly (actually, probably) isn't ready to manage a team seeking the Premier League and Champions League trophies. That is why, bearing in mind the transfer ban, he will be given a couple of seasons. Supporters will allow him that time because of who he is.
Curious to see that, despite his apparently woeful performance at Derby, Derby supporters want him to stay.
Anyway, still far from clear if he will be coming yet. Apparently, John Terry and Abramovich do not see eye to eye any more and so that option is not on the table.
Sarri to Juventus is costing £5 million in compensation. And once Chelsea have paid that they are, apparently, paying Derby a further £4 million for Fat Frank.
