Agree. Don't like people having dailys vs special either, if you can't stand to wear something every day though thick and thin, don't own it. Patina and use are as valuable as the metal that makes the cars and watches, IMO.

Maybe I've misunderstood your comment, but to me having special watches for high days and holidays is as* sensible as using the correct screwdriver.
I think it's ok to keep expensive things away from situations where they might get broken (or even gain a bit of 'patina' if you want to avoid that. Fine tools are not all purpose - I wouldn't use my Ashley Iles chisels to smack out a stubborn bit of garden fence.
