Agree. Don't like people having dailys vs special either, if you can't stand to wear something every day though thick and thin, don't own it. Patina and use are as valuable as the metal that makes the cars and watches, IMO.

Maybe I've misunderstood your comment, but to me having special watches for high days and holidays is as* sensible as using the correct screwdriver.
*ok that's obviously an exaggeration, but still.

I've met @Crispin_Glover and he would absolutely do this. Very dapper man. When we met he was wearing a morning suit and tails while dismantling and regreasing his bottom bracket. Prepared to put the effort in.

No I wouldn't but for me watches are tools and should be all-purpose. That's just me though, I know a lot of people consider them to be jewellery.
