It's my go to, dependable and comfortable - and thanks for the education, was not aware of the 'trapeze' designation.

Why brake on rear not front?
Genuine question - I recognise any comment on brakes potentially contentious :) -
• #17088
Just for fun really.
It was that Stridland Spesh that inspired me to change the build up a bit (it was built with 2 brakes and mudguards) so copied their rear brake only bmx style thing.
It had a canti on the rear which I wanted to ditch as I’d been unable to get it performing well, I think I have another vee brake at home but it would have been another thing to dig out and carry to work today.

It does look bags of fun. What are you planning to use it for mainly?
I’m very new to any sort of off-road cycling (just building up my first mountain bike now) - has a razz around some woods this morning on my Straggler and probably used a rear brake more in 2 hours than up until that point in total. -

I have no idea. It’s a bit of a spare bike really.

Those bells are awesome. Girl at work has one on her bike and it’s like KKKRR-KRANGGG!!! instead the normal trt-tring!

Have been working on this pub bike for a while, it’s incredibly slow but like riding an armchair.

So it turns out the Surly is my new favourite commuting bike.
It's so much fun being able to hop up and down kerbs and doing childish skids everywhere.
I've got the seat down a bit from where it really should be, only 2 or 3 inches but it's the best thing, totally stops me trying to smash it up to high speed.
Still need to change out the front wheel so I'm not hauling the unused dynamo around with me. I have a snowflake wheel that needs the spokes either trimming a little or undoing and twisting another turn.

Dude that's like 5 to 7.6 cm

Big fan of this thing locked up at my work. Ritchey logic crankset, 531ST, weird paint, combination of grip and thumb shifters, excellent beater material.
