That's pretty clever, I think my mum already has one. I'll get some cheap velcro straps and try it on.

When TNF is the cheaper option... Somethings amiss in price strategy.

I thought 'influencers' got product for free and then just praised it. I can't see that working with Ed for some reason. :)

Quite. Although - similarly to certain (but my no means all) Rapha products - I consider them good value in the sense they’re products generally do job excellently, and particularly in the case of TNF, are bombproof, which - certainly for me at least - is worth paying for. That said, I’ve never paid full price for any Rapha or TNF products, and I probably never would unless I needed it immediately.

any suggestions for alternatives?
No sorry I'm just carping from the sidelines ;)
Seriously though I have a Restrap bar bag which I'm happy with but if you're looking at this one I don't think the Restrap is what you'd want.

All the best #influencers have editorial integrity so pay for the stuff they review*.

I think you can even get this in Lidl at the moment, unbranded ofc.

so when you strap that to bars using the webbing at the 'front' the zip will open towards the front of the bike and everything will fall out?

Webbing goes all the way round.

is if used from the 'back' the zip is at the bottom and inaccessible?
-
• #33213
It's less ideal than I expected, maybe have the zip all the way in a corner and only open partially while riding? Or shell out big bux for a proper solution, I guess it will be the latter.
-
• #33214
Depends how you strap it I guess. I envisaged using the webbing on the ‘front’ of the bag, having the zip facing the rider whilst on bike so you could open it whilst riding. Ideally having it strapped in such a way to keep it vaguely ‘upright’ but I probably depends a lot on how much weight you have in it and how you strap it.

Is Squabbles an influencer though?

• #33216
how ever you strap it, you cant access the contents while riding though?

• #33217
If you want the solution that actually works you want one of these, toured with two guys who both had them and they never missed a beat, magnetic closure, doesn’t flop around, fits loads, rain proof, bombproof, fits between brifters.. ticks all boxes, except the ‘insta points’ one I guess.

yeah but those are even more expensive than the rapha one
-
• #33219
They are, but they work, and it holds 4x as much.
£45 is £45 too much if it doesn’t actually work.
£70 is acceptable if it does everything you want, exceeds expectations of usability and is likely to last more miles that most of us could ever hope to put on it.

I’m not in a position to show it, but you could definately rig this in such a way as to make it usable, perhaps not optimal, but certainly usable.

The bar bag's arrived. Shame about the straps cos it's a lovely looking bit of kit. I have since worked out that the straps from my Mack bag are removable (duh), but using them will involve cutting the existing straps on the Rapha off.
Rapha bar bag seems way overpriced considering the North Face equivalent is £15-20, is bombproof, holds nearly twice as much, has more mounting points than you can shake a sick at and comes in a bunch of colours if that’s your thing.
Add straps of choice, Velcro / voile / webbing etc. and it’s still half the price.
