On second thoughts as that was reported by the buyer, maybe immaterial. Whatever.

I would hope that sellers on this forum would do the right thing, and that doesn't to have happened on this occasion.

  • I don't think the seller was under any obligation to do so.

    There’s an obligation.

It might be a moral one rather than a legal one but given that this is a cycling community which happens to have a classifieds section and not eBay, then I’d say morals > laws.

  • Totally agree.

The obligation is don’t be a dick.

Regardless whether seller was aware, just go yeah that’s no good and refund it.

  • So, no sorry no refund (ok he was able to sell to someone else).

@Kluens you are not well educated

  • Everyone’s in agreement, we can all not buy his stuff next time, can we move on now?

  • On a serious note, all the Restrap frame bags have excessive amounts of excess strap, with little rubber bands you can tuck excess under if you don’t want to commit to the snip....

  • The good old ‘internet put down’, my MA disagrees with you.

  • MA in dick selling?

  • Hah! Definitely sounds like something pimp related.

  • @Dick is an expert in dickpreciation

  • my MA disagrees with you.

Your Ma? Who gives a fuck what your mummy thinks.

  • Don't worry that everyone thinks you're a prick, you got to keep the buyer's money which I imagine must be very satisfying for you. The very best of luck to you in future buying and selling....next please!

  • Just had an agreement with @Dawid_Owl to purchase some wheels from him. I was selling a pair to fund the purchase. We agreed to meet tomorrow. My wheels have sold but he's just pulled the plug having sold them to someone at his work. Now I have no wheels.

Isn't it incredible how some people treat others?

Don't trade with this person. I won't be.

  • Yes I've sold wheels. Sold as someone was ready with cash.
Been talking with you and arranging meeting but still waiting for confirmation since you not been ready to purchase.
Offered you some wheels to borrow for free in case my quick selling put you out of riding...
I don't think is right to be called out for bad trading.
Dibs are not a binding agreement and ppl pulls out and undibsing. When seller sell to someone with funds ready it's his right.

Ps. Swearing at other is not acceptable imo

  • You haven't truly suffered until you've tried to tried to buy wheels from Archibald*

*name changed to protect from certain litigation

  • Can't find what it was now but I'm pretty certain I've bought from @Dawid_Owl before and had no problems at all.

  • It sounds like a less than ideal outcome but one which has seen an attempt to reconcile.

  • I set out the situation quite clearly and told by text message that I would confirm with you tonight (Monday 10 June). You messaged me this morning (Monday 10 June) to tell me that you'd already sold them.

I hardly think selling them to someone not on this forum is good form when two people who are on this forum had dibsed them.

And for the record, I swear very rarely but given how angry I was with this situation where you have clearly been very disrespectful, it certainly warranted it.

I now have no wheels to race with on Sunday.

The long and short of this is that you were too impatient and in your impatience, haven't honoured the agreement which is written down for all to see.

  • Chill out a bit. You seem irrationally angry. Some people need money and a certain sale.

  • I agree but in that case you adhere to people's communication. If you look at the thread for the wheels, 3 people have dibsed. The sale was highly likely. When someone has failed to honour their agreement and subsequently left you in a difficult situation, it leaves a sour taste.

I now have my sale as predicted and the funds would have been available. I was due to confirm tonight but he couldn't wait what turned out to be about 3 hours.

  • cant believe people swear on here. i call bullshit.

  • I didn't swear on here.

  • I'm sorry but dibs mean absolutely nothing. Seller has no obligation to sell to anyone just because they've expressed interest. If money hasn't changed hands then there's no deal yet.

  • But advertising on here and selling elsewhere is against the rules.

  • No advertising both on here and elsewhere is against the rules, I don't think selling to a colleague falls under that rule.
