Anyone rented a bike in Crete before?
There seems to be lots of companies offering rentals, just wondering who I should go with.

One of these? Free to anyone who wants it, useless for what it was designed.

I've purchased a 2nd hand Sram s500 GXP chainset which came with a GXP BB and the 'driveside GXP Reducer Shield' is all mangled up preventing a good fit in the BB.
Is this part included with replacement GXP BBs?

Gah, ok thanks. Could always turn it over I suppose.

Yes!

Like this.
It reminds me of the Tutonic weight of closing an Audi door. Initially satisfying until you realise it's actually an unnecessary pain in the arse.

looking for a super short stem with huge positive rise and very swept back bars for my wife's pinnacle lithium. She's getting pretty pregnant and needs to make her bike much more upright
any recommendations?

What's the general checklist for used carbon frames?
- check for any visible hairline cracks in the paint
- do the coin test (sound)
--> anything else?

Check if it's steel or not. If it's not steel, don't buy it. :)

If the rear wheel is QR then check that the axle has a snug fit in the dropouts.
Cable rub is death to carbon frames, check for signs, see how deep any marks are.
If it's press fit, check the surfaces for signs of ham-fisted installation / removal. If it's thread fit, check that the alu insert isn't wandering about...

Cheers, those are all good points!

Drop the fork out and check the steerer. I’d its carbon look for cracks, and check it’s an expander bung, not a Star washer - I’ve seen that done. If it’s an alu steerer then check the bond to the crown.

not a Star washer - I’ve seen that done
:S
Thanks!

I need to replace the bearings in my headset. This is the headset I have:
https://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/cube-headset-fsa-orbit-i-t-1-1-8-1-1-4-619498
Is there a part number, like hub bearings have (e.g. 6002RS), that I can search on google/ebay to find the correct headset bearings?

There is. They have funny numbers usually starting with MR but you can also search by the TH part number. They are all listed on the TH Industries web site under the ACB (angular contact bearings) tab. Each bearing has five key dimensions you will need to match:
- Outside diameter
- Inside diameter
- Thickness
- Internal chamfer angle
- External chamfer angle
- Outside diameter

Thanks! These seem to be the bearings I need for a 2016 Cube Attain GT with a FSA Orbit headset.
(Incase anyone is searching in the future)

Around £9 each on Ebay.

Will a Cyclus headset press also work for pressing in a Shimano Press-Fit bottom bracket?
-
• #97422
Yeah, ideally you'd have the drifts that fit, but will work without.

A standard "will-I -die -in-a-fireball question": the (steel) steerer on my new bike is weirdly short (42mm or so above the top of the headset). My stem (one of these) has a 50mm high clamp. The top of the steerer is roughly level with the top of the top bolt on the stem.
Safe or doom?

Depends how much petrol you're carrying

Fiery deathballs, but you can probably delay that past the end of your natural life by using this one weird trick
They pull a NorthFace?
