Thanks, I bought a used copy of the second one! I am a big old nerd so I don't think I'll lose interest :)

That does help, I've only ever known the leather ones!

I was hoping for some kind of clear tape that didn't cost quite that much
Dredge city, but for you and anybody else who finds the 3M helicopter tape a tad pricey, TESA 54994 is significantly cheaper. Still not cheap, but typically close to half the price of 3M

And it's reasonably effective? I just need some bits to protect a Brompton from cable rub etc, so a metre of that looks like it should do the job.
-
• #97381
Why is it called helicopter tape?
-
• #97382
It's used to prevent minor damage to helicopter rotor blades.
-
• #97383
Well that cleared that up

And it's reasonably effective?
Comes recommended from a bunch of downhillers, so I guess it must be.

Thank you

I need some 12x28x8mm bearings for the wheels of a balance bike.
Helpfully simply bearings allows you to filter easily. But there are so many choices!

I'm guessing a balance bike doesn't need anything fancy, but is there a sensible price point? The aim is to spend as little as possible really as I need x4 bearings. What about seals? Metal or rubber?
Bonus points if anyone knows what the on-one track hub bearing size is, as I figure I may as well get some of those too.
Cheers!

You might as well get a reputable brand if you're investing time in changing bearings. I like SKF, but FAG, NSK etc. are fine too.
What about seals? Metal or rubber?
With few exceptions which you will understand if you ever come across them, you want rubber seals, not metal shields

If it's the Novatec version, 6000-2RS

The bearing code is moulded into the rubber seal on one side.

Thanks. One bearing is missing and the other is fucked - hence changing them all.

C3 if I am correct is the clearance advised for press-fit assembly in a metal parts, that way the clearance is reduced once assembled to a more acceptable value (e.g. in idlers with metal pulley).
If you managed to extract them with simple tool ("light" press-fit with hammer for example), I reckon the standard ones should be alright but @mdcc_tester will probably be more useful than me -

I'm using it on little 'uns frog bike and seems to be doing a good job preventing scratches and marks in usual places
-

Cheers.
Sorry I edited my post as I read up more on them and really they only seem relevant for high rpm situations where the heat requires room for expansion.
But now going to hold fire after what you've said about C3 being better for press fit.
It's for this:

My knowledge is related to bearings used in automotive engine as idler pulleys so might not be relevant.
Not sure "press-fit" would be entirely adequate as I do not know the translation of the word I have for this, but I meant C3 is more for assembly that requires a machine press tool (hydraulic press, etc.) with important assembly force if it makes sense.
For bearing pressed by hand or with a "light tool" (hammer etc.), in my opinion C3 would not be necessary and with the application I thank a standard bearing should be perfectly fine -

Sadly they are laser etched and remain unimpressed by acetone and the like.

Is there such thing as a presta and schrader crack-pipe for a Slica track pump? And if so can someone point me in the direction of a reasonably priced one?
A bit like this:

Slica track pump
What's that, some Aliexpress knock off of a Silca? 🙂
The Silca Hiro is an overpriced knock off of a Hirame Yoko, they had to make it £100 in order to be even more expensive than the Japanese original.
Pump hoses tend to be pretty similar between brands, so if you want a dual purpose head the decent SKS one will probably go on your Silca hose.

Not sure how intense your usage will be but one of these has worked fine for me for about 10 years now. I put it on my old Silca floor pump and it works like a charm.

Thanks. I hadn't thought of just replacing the end.
My original Silca, which I bought as "an investment peice", has an insanely beefy inline chuck thing. It gives the impression of quality, but is actually a fucker to use irl.
Unfortunately I can't find an image as Silca's new marketing team has conquered Google images.
