Thanks v much for the tips guys - The Flying Duck won out, because it was right by my hotel and it was tipping down. Agree it was pricey but good, friendly staff and a good wee dingy vibe.
The guy in the hotel assured me Glasgow is the UK's vegan capital, and also recommended Ard Na Murchan and Piper Tryst as good meat-serving restaurants with separate vegan menus - one of the chefs just won Scottish chef of the year, but I can't remember which one.
