  • Depends on the time doesn't it? If it's outside peak hours you should just be able to rock onto it.

  • from 7pm, seems to be okay as long as it isn't some kind of high-speed service? looking at the timetable, they all seem to be fine.

  • Look out for me and @Ruserius at the 7:30 start then!

Ti Kinesis for me, don't know what Graham is riding.

  • Jump on any local train, not the intercity ones, but they rarely if ever stop at Maidenhead anyway. Local ones are mostly on the right hand side of the station, platforms 8-14

  • Riding the Wander Wye in two weeks, anyone recommend a good route from Raynes Park back to Paddington? Or am I just aiming Putney Bridge, Fulham Road, Queens Gate and onto the Carriage Drives?

  • Or am I just aiming Putney Bridge, Fulham Road, Queens Gate and onto the Carriage Drives?

That's all I tend to do at silly o'clock in the morning.

Coming back I sometimes just stick the bike on the tube (District Line is fine for bikes).

  • Two Pendle 600 routes. Which is either correct or better?

  • Be nice if one of those alt routes shaved a few thousand feet of climbing off the route.

    That's wishful thinking, eh

  • Comparing with the route sheet, neither of these is accurate although the blue one is starting out closer to it.

  • I'm doing avalon sunrise tonight. Glastonbury at dawn. Probably be cold.

  • 12c, tomorrow night is quite warm as well.

  • Ok, so it looks like the red route is more accurate, ignoring the very start, the south bit is closer to route sheet and the so is the Lorton bit top left and the Seascale control bit.

    So is the Carnforth bit.

  • Someone said 27C tomorrow. Overnight should be warm if that's the case.

  • Any last minute tips for my first 600k?

  • Sun cream

  • Right, this is the better of the two routes I found, edited for the Clitheroe start:

Have a look and if you find any shenanigans let me know.

  • Nice, I'll sit down with this over the weekend.

  • Keep momentum up early on - no faffing, long stops, etc - so you have plenty of time for rest later

  • I tend to ride around 25kph including very brief stops. I'm wondering if I should sleep or not. I guess I'll see how I feel.

  • agree with this. the only other 600 I've done I had a very silly amount of stopping (including a travelodge sleep, but still, I got round fine). gonna try my hardest tomorrow to just keep at it and keep stops to a minimum. fingers crossed.

  • I'm going to try my hardest to spend as much time as possible at all the controls eating as much as possible. Also aiming at getting 6hr sleep this time I hope. Ear plugs!

  • Dragged myself out of the pub, see you all tomorrow

  • Finished in a relaxed 35hrs, 4hrs at the sleep control and 1hr sleeping in a bush. That's both my first fixed SR series complete which is also my first SR. I feel good!
