Bought not built!
All stripped down now, but what colour (colours?) should I paint it? Also what's the best method for removing the brake braze ons?

Compact bars and slammed stem would be a start.

It'll have a higher saddle and lower stem, that's literally as I bought it. Probably risers though.

Why would you want to?
-
• #123331
Because it’ll only be ridden fixed with no rear brake.

Why would you do that? Since you have the fittings for a rear brake, you might as well enjoy the improved quality of life which having two brake calipers on your fixie biek provides.

how do you have the effort for this still?
-
• #123334
Because I want to.
I've never felt the need for a rear brake on my sick fixies and I love the clean lines of a frame without bosses.
I'm thinking a nice dark blue, possibly with gold decals. Does anyone know what font the Lee cooper logo is?

This lovely old cross racer just arrived in the post. It's pretty light and the steel tubing sounds very thin. The fork is on the heavy side. There are 2 options I'm considering for this build:
- Sympathetic cyclocross build - used for commuting
- Full rando - have the canti studs moved down to accommodate 650b brakes, and have eyelets added for full metal VO mudguards.
Edit: Oh and it might be a little too big for me, in which case it'll be for sale on here for £60.

tbh I'm with tester on this one, just don't fit a brake to the rear
-
• #123337
That’s lovely! Are you restricted to using the old style canti brakes?

Because drop handlebars & two brakes fixed is sexy.

I had mine removed by Winston at Varonha who'd only recently added them for the previous owner. The tubing on mine is pretty thin so i didn't see the point in risking damaging it by filing them off.
It probably raised a few eyebrows but i'm going to use this frame for track accreditation and they're not keen on sticky outy bits. If it's a track frame i think it's fine to do but having shaved a road frame before for a fixed conversion i can confirm the result looked awful and i regretted it instantly.

Mille grazie!

I'm not sure.
It came with a set of Mafac cantis, I guess I'll just use those if modern cantis don't fit.

Plus you can look over your right shoulder or stick that arm out whilst braking ftw.

Chopping off two tiny cable stops for an aesthetic effect which literally nobody but you will notice seems a high cost:benefit ratio when you could just leave it For, but not with if you are not yet convinced of the benefits of two brakes.

That’s the point. He doesn’t care about anybody else but himself.
Seat tubes too, but it's slowly growing on me
