• Shall we say £25? It's in pretty good nick. I can bring it Sunday

  • Yeah let’s do it

  • cool, no problem m. I'll bring it along

  • Nice looking Flying Scot in Horsham

And a new one on me: an all chrome Chaz F Hill.

  • Lunchtime shakedown run complete. Did 10-12 miles out through Bushy Park, Kingston, towards Esher and back in via Hampton Court.

It rides really nicely. I think if you were used to 30s bikes and had this built in 1938/39, you’d be properly impressed! It’s light, flies along, steering is precise and it’s comfy. Would ride again.

    Tweaks needed:

    • need to fit my toe clip spacers.
    • bottom bracket needs nipping up now it has settled in.
    • might give the pump pegs a quick squeeze together as the pump jumped out a couple of times.

Otherwise, pretty much ready to go.

  • nice!
I'm gonna finish mine tomorrow or Sat morning for a quick ride on Sat itself, ready for Sunday.

  • Very nice.
@7ven did you manage to get your Hobbs up and running, or maybe your going to pull out all the stops and bring the trike?

  • It’s nowhere near as nice in real life. It’s more rat bike than it looks.

  • Fork rake on the all chrome bike made me smile :)

  • So, who's riding fixed on Sunday. Anyone? Unsure which bike to bring....

  • fwiw am out, bike won't be ready before Sunday (just waiting for chainset) but might catch you if you're up around Stoke Row way as I'll likely be out on one of my 'modern' cycles :)

  • I’m riding fixed!

  • Your Parkes:

    Well done - looks good!

  • Shit! The Durax are French threaded and I've not got a set of pedals for it!!
The crankser is on and it'd be a pain to remove.
Anyone got French threaded pedals for tomorrow?

  • Progress so far:

  • Also don't have a freewheel with one cog and not confident on a fixed sprocket yet, is this OK?

  • I will not be on fixed. I'm not at all confident about my fitness and I'd hate to be burden.

Don't let me discourage the rest of you from riding fixed. There shouldn't be any climbs that won't be rideable on a reasonable single gear.

I expect you've all seen the weather forecast - showers look possible in the afternoon, but otherwise it should be a pleasant day for riding.

  • Solved. Recalled I have a French Dura Ace 1st groupset and pedals thread in nicely. It'll do.

  • Just turn up on the modern bike, the more the merrier. I promise you won't b penalised

  • Looks great, like the two tone bar wrap. Nice with the chrome sleeves.

  • Re Flying Scot

That looks like an interesting project. Bit too big though. I’m on the lookout for something similar for my brother-in-law’s upcoming big birthday. Planning to sucker him in to the classic lightweights lark :)

  • It seems complete. Scared as hell... That single old brake between me and injuries :)

  • Looks brilliant, i love the fact that you had a spare set of French threaded Dura ace pedals just for such an occasion.

  • Just to confirm is this where we are meeting tomorrow for around 9.30am (59 High St, Staines TW18 4QH)?

  • Something like that. Cafe Nero is on the pedestrianised bit of the high street :)

    Edit: yes, I just checked.
