Not saying it's a fair price but the smiley dial ones with the red pip on the bezel are deemed collectible as they were made in relatively limited numbers.
That's the one I have, not sure if it's true or not but that price might indicate some element of truth to it.
I can't remember how much I paid for mine. Mainly because I paid in Bitcoin.
The 79220n is also supposed to be thinner as the ETA movement is skinnier than the Tudor in house movement. Not that I've ever checked that.

Just did a lot of digging. That really is overpriced for a Black Bay Black 79220n. That price would be more suitable for a full set on bracelet and even then, a touch too rich.
The point still stands though, the 79920n black was only made for just under 8 months and is perceived as more desirable.

In my experience they are always happy to haggle, but they sure are expensive if you don't get them down.
I'd pay £3.5k for an as new tags on complete 79220n on bracelet. Not a worn one on strap.

Yes, I have the same model and I was aware there was some purported element of scarcity to it but I was surprised to see what that appeared to translate to in terms of the current price.

I'm with you. It has so many design details I hate and yet somehow I really like it as a whole. What is this watch wizardry!

They're ok watches, for £290. £800+ is insulting.

Which local TK Maxx would this be?

TK Maxx Swindon. Condition was new, seemed complete. I think I was the only person that pawed it. I can facilitate but I don’t have £300 spare to pay upfront.

No worries, I suspect you know a lot more than I do.
Interesting about the thickness, for me the ETA black bay is just about bordering on max thickness (although I do have a thing against fat watches unless they're real tool watches).

Love the top one with the traditional Rolex bezel.

Yeah, the white gold fluted bezel is a bit too jewellery for me to wear I think, but it looks amazing. You can have either bezel and either bracelet on any of the dial colours.

I've tried the 39mm and I have to agree. Fluted looks amazing but too rich for my taste. Very bling!

TK Maxx has had quite a few Alpina's in recently, and there is a quartz chrono on their website at the moment:
