I want the lightweight, pro look with friction trimming ability, also less to go wrong. Can also adapt it into a normal cable stop when using brifters. How else do I got about getting a double up front?

Don't listen to Phil, it works well and you should do it. You also don't have to muck about with cable housing under the bars if you want to go back to 1x
