Utterly pointless - unless you really value teh aeros
The OPI steerer fits Headshok 1.56" bearings.
There is no 1.5" steerer :) There is only a 1.56" steerer that tapers down to 1.5" beyond the bearing surfaces and accepts 1.5" stems. It's called the SuperMax 2.0 steerer. It was used across the range when they realised the OPI steerer was jokes.
Yes - this is explained above, the hubs can be found.
If you want very old 26" MTB wheels or 650b Road (Oliver) wheels, yes, but if say you wanted to fit a modern 27.5" MTB wheel like Mavic XA, you simply couldn't.
Of course - if you can get the hub you can build your own wheels. Might be a bit of a short lived and or pointless exercise for most because you are sinking money in to a dead standard and if the fork croaks the wheel is pretty much useless unless re-laced to a new hub.
