One stage as in the clock doesn't stop and I presume in this case that you ride any transfers?

The Skinny has landed.

Yeah 2.2.
Need to go wider. But that wasnt the issue, which was that I lost my eear tubless and so was just getting pinch flats as the pump I got was terrible.

Well done, James. Beat them all next year. :)

Ikon and Ardent race are my favorite tyres for distance down here but wider and with more meat on the tyre as well for teh drainage bars and terrain up there. Loads of riders were having tyre and brake issues though. Just reading Jenny G had identical issues. Thats a massive ride to finish and amazing to do it so quickly in those conditions.

Yeah drainage bars are death.
Everything was made hard by the fact I've never ridden a mtb before!
I hear wide rims are the thing, around 30mm.

Ha! I've a lot to learn about mountain bike riding.

Chapeau.
This all does sound like a wonderful adventure, if even the fastest riders are not really sure if they can finish. Nelson seemed to question finishing when he only had something like 60 miles to go. Though that was because of problems with bike apparently. -
• #3137
I only saw Nelson's dot stuck a short distance from the start, so did he get round?
-
• #3138
Nelson finished 8th after dropping his Spot tracker early on.

I thought I'd love to do this when I saw lots of sunny pix from last year. Now I've heard a bit more about it I'm not so sure...!

So much walking 40km or so
I need comfy shoes.
-
• #3141
After most events I recommend them to a lot if people.
Theres only a few people I know I'd tell to do this one. Most would end up a statistic.
Its beyond tough.

Ran out of patches.

Walking in midfoot sucks and Speedplay r deth as soon as they sniff dirt so I'm probably going to take some shoes on TCR this year in case there's walking on the gravel bits. Off road, dunno, thought SPD shoes would be ok, no?
-
• #3144
You said I should do it. Does that mean you think I'd actually finish?
Oh..
-
• #3145
Massive respect - if you've not done much mountain biking, and never ridden in the wilds of Scotland, getting round this route, never mind competing at the sharp end of the race, is hugely impressive. You are a monster!
I've got an adventure planned at a much more sedate pace in a couple of weeks. First leg is over the Corrieyairack Pass - is that still in good shape? I'm hoping its an easy section.

• #3146
Just want to see you suffer!

Stiff carbon soles. A no no.
Need some flexy soles.
-
• #3148
I've done none! Ha
Only got the bike last week.Where is that? I dont know any of the names.

Ah before fort Augustus.
Yeah it's good. I got down and im shit.
Tbh my brains muddled and I dont remember much right now.
As if anything could be considered 'one stage' if someone sleeps even once.
