@Kat_Balou raved on twitter about Glazed and their coffee and doughnuts so I finally tried them out the other week as it's near my mums place and they are both ace.
it's on the outer periphery of the laines so you would need to detour to get there but it was nice.

A very interesting article on a Muslim perspective on veganism:

Just read the paper version of that and now can't get off the One Arab Vegan website.

Can second Glazed! Worth the trip for sure. Always get banging espresso from them, and the doughnuts are awesome !!
-
• #6432
Yeah we went! Espresso was on point, and the doughnuts went down a treat. Thanks for the recommendation guys :)

I have to go up to Glasgow tonight - any recommendations for somewhere to eat?

Ate at Mono a couple of weeks back and very much enjoyed it. Hot fudge sundae was unnecessarily delicious.

I like this place

was up there couple of weeks ago.
ate at both the 78 and Stereo. and of course Mother India or Wee Curry House if you like Indian food.
the breakfast at the 78 was the best I have had in a while.

Hug and Pint is great as well.
Banana Leaf on Old Dumbarton Road does amazing south Indian food for really cheap if you don't mind eating in what looks a bit like a run down living room (there's a Malaysian place very nearby also called Banana Leaf that I haven't tried).
Kimchi Cult does great Korean food.
The Flying Duck for junk food (pricey but pretty good). -

Thanks v much for the tips guys - The Flying Duck won out, because it was right by my hotel and it was tipping down. Agree it was pricey but good, friendly staff and a good wee dingy vibe.
The guy in the hotel assured me Glasgow is the UK's vegan capital, and also recommended Ard Na Murchan and Piper Tryst as good meat-serving restaurants with separate vegan menus - one of the chefs just won Scottish chef of the year, but I can't remember which one.

Yeah Glasgow is great! I was seeing somebody up there for a couple of years and pretty much every time I went to visit we ate somewhere new.
-
• #6440
Well, looks like I may be up here a bit in the next few weeks, so will make the most of the options!
-
• #6441
If you're up there a lot and use Facebook there's a page called something like vegans Glasgow and Edinburgh that seems to be a good source for tips on new places.

Nice little news item about a new vegan menu in a Homerton chip shop:

As I think I mentioned previously, the fully vegan Sutton & Sons in Graham Road has shut down, unfortunately.

Those who don't habitually dotwatch (what's wrong with you?) may not know that the current frontrunner in the Trans Am Bike Race, which hippy has done twice, is Abdullah Zeinab, who is vegan. Apparently, he's currently on record pace, around 250 miles ahead of the nearest chaser.
Obviously, given @veganjoseph 's exploits, we're used to that sort of thing around here (and not a bit blasé), but I thought I'd post a heads-up.

Abdullah is on an absolute ripper. I'm sure Subway is making a killing from this effort. Will be awesome to see him get the course record!

Does he mainly stop at Subways, then?
I remember checking their offering a few years ago when they first opened in London (out of interest rather than because I was planning to buy something from them), but from (not too clear) memory there was some sort of problem with their bread or something else that meant none of their sandwiches could be made vegan (?).
Anyway, they may have changed all that by now.

Yeah! Subway actually released a vegan patty and vegan aioli sauce in the UK in the last couple of weeks. Surprised you haven't seen the advertising campaign. It's pretty good.
Abdullah can eat tons and very quickly. Probably another reason for his success. I remember being at a roadhouse with him at 4am when I was riding Melbourne-Adelaide a couple of weeks before IPWR and he had already eaten like two veggie burgers and going back up to the counter to order more before I was half-way through one of mine lol!

Heh, I pay next to no attention to advertising. :)
Good to hear they're doing vegan stuff--I still won't go there unless I can't help it (don't like the company).
Recommendations for a nice coffee and cake in Brighton?
