well, ok, but do all cannondale owners know about that? someone on here might see this as a great opportunity to go from fatty to lefty.. and then comes the dentist's bill..

They (the OPI stem/steerer) creak like a bastard before they fail. And if the lower portion isn't removed with the correct tool, or at least something with the right dimensions, the removal is destructive and it will not go back together again :)
Should anyone want this Lefty but require a 'proper' steerer I have an Si stem (basically a one-piece steerer / stem) kicking around in my parts bin.

Who cares? The OPI stem is utter shit and needs to go in the bin either way.
The recall 'fix' has the effect of the 'steerer' portion of the the system eating itself should you try and un-screw it.
