  • Cannondale Carbon Lefty Fork, very light use. I don't know anything about these, but they seem to be about £200-£300 used on the ebay, and up to £800 new. I'm initially asking £250

The fork came off my Dad's Cannondale super light XLR crabon Hardtail, after he'd only used it a couple of weeks. He bought a light bike to make it easier getting up the stairs, but Getting the front wheel off was too much of a faff.

Collection preferred from Woolwich or West Norwood / Crystal Palace. Can also meet most places South: Brixton / Camberwell / Peckham / Lewisham / Catford etc. Cash or bank transfer accepted.

  • @coldharbour was looking for one of these, presuming its the 29er version. 90mm travel iirc.

  • Does it need a tapered headtube or straight 1 1/8? What length headtube would it fit? Thanks

  • for a 26" wheel.

  • I'm pretty sure it's straight. Here is a the user manual.

Can't be more specific as I have no experience fitting these.

  • Does it need a tapered headtube or straight 1 1/8? What length headtube would it fit? Thanks

It will fit any head tube equal to, or smaller in height than the Cannondale Headshok Si head tube - with the right adapter from Project 321. Doesn't matter if the head tube is 1 1/8th, tapered or whatever.

  • Thanks for reply but I wanted these for a 29er. You can get a 'lefty for all' adapter that will allow you to fit them to most frames. I have a nice 26"ti frame in the shed that these would look super on but unfortunately I don't have the spare cash to build that frame up

  • Price drop £230

  • Who cares? The OPI stem is utter shit and needs to go in the bin either way.

The recall 'fix' has the effect of the 'steerer' portion of the the system eating itself should you try and un-screw it.

  • Any offers before Ebay next week?

  • well, ok, but do all cannondale owners know about that? someone on here might see this as a great opportunity to go from fatty to lefty.. and then comes the dentist's bill..

  • They (the OPI stem/steerer) creak like a bastard before they fail. And if the lower portion isn't removed with the correct tool, or at least something with the right dimensions, the removal is destructive and it will not go back together again :)

Should anyone want this Lefty but require a 'proper' steerer I have an Si stem (basically a one-piece steerer / stem) kicking around in my parts bin.

  • Any offers before Ebay next week?

Personally I wouldn't expect too much because the market for the 26" version is fairly limited now and few of the modern MTB wheelsets fit (the hub was changed back in 2014 or something).

So you are looking at the dwindling market of folks holding on to now very old frame sets.

This could be converted to 27.5 or 29" reasonably easily but the travel would be reduced to as little as 70mm in 29'er mode. Even more limited market for that.

  • Price drop £50 before I chuck it in the river

  • How hard to find wheels for? Should I get this for the F1000?

  • £50 for pick up from Woolwich only, I should add. Don't really want to lug this thing around anymore

  • How hard to find wheels for? Should I get this for the F1000?

The hubs are easy to find because they used them on the Lefty Oliver - it's the modern, pre-built stuff that's not possible.

Should you get this for the F1000? Yes but I'd budget another £80 to get it serviced and for the steerer you'd need.

  • Oh wait, I could just give you the Si steerer I have :)

Suggestion to get this all based on the assumption that there's nothing fundamentally wrong with it and it's been stored in a dry environment...

  • Do it, @branwen

    Then come riding again!

  • I'll take it if branwen doesn't! My fatty ultra will no doubt implode soon. I'll get this ready to be next year's fork, which seems to be the lifespan of this fancy cannondale stuff.

  • Woah, I thought a reduction of £50, not just total £50.
Interested if all above drop out. Assuming I can make some sort of makeshift Slate with it

  • sure you can! check out @Scrabble 's recent posts. (won't point you to my thread as streetX frames are practically impossible to find...)

  • @Howard - is this a regular 1.5" steerer instead of the older 1.56"? also, the Oliver seems to use the Lefty 50 hub, which is the plain old Lefty hub that all forks used back in the day, non? so it is the easiest version to find..

  • won't point you to my thread

No need anyway, I've read it all before. My inspiration (although your thread needs an update)
However I would just build my own frame around the fork :)
