• Very glad to be through the housebound stage and allowed back outside now that vaccinations are completed. Had a pretty solid weekend of getting him used to pubs and meeting lots of people. He’s been great so far, just need to do a bit more training in bite inhibition when he gets overexcited, any tips?

  • With our pup, if he bit us too hard, we made a loud sound of pain, stood up and turned our back on him for at least thirty seconds. Worked a charm for us...

  • Mouthing and nipping is very normal for pups, particularly the staff in him, and he'll grow out of it. Reggie is 10 months and doesn't do it with me at all, but still does it a bit with my teenage kids - but he doesn't see them every day.

What Stonehedge said - just don't give him any sense that the nipping is a game. Ignoring is best, and be consistent.

  • What a cutie. We're doing just as Mark and Stonehedge suggest - seems to working. We also substitute a chew toy for skin if he is just mouthing. He should be starting to lose his puppy teeth soon so I imagine it will get a worse for a bit.
