Watching in Italy. Don't understand anything on the telly except 'rampa'

rampa is a fair summary

Nibali seems to be bossing it today . A few teams on the ropes.

Looks nightmarish with the darkness and rain. Should make for interesting descent.
-
• #21506
This descent is going to be horrible.
-
• #21507
The only thing worse than a long slog up a mountain in the wet and fog is the knowledge that the downhill is going to be horrible. At least when it's sunny, the unpleasantness is tempered by the knowledge of a glorious descent.

Also, watching Zakarin ride up an 8% gradient casually putting on a gilet reminds me how shit I am

First 45 minutes of the highlights on demand was tennis. Then 5km from the end it cut out. Managed to watch it in the end though.
One of the weirdest things was everyone forgetting Fausto Masnada was out on his own somewhere between the front two and the chasers.
Poor guy must have been out there by himself for the whole of Mortirolo, all of the descent, and then the ramp up to the finish.
Must have been fucking miserable, and no one even knew he was there. Did he hope to catch the leaders? Did he expect to be caught by the maglia rosa group and just never find them? I hope he is nice and warm now at least.

Heāll be nice and warm inside when he gets a big old contract offer from a WT team later this year.

Which channel? We watched the Eurosport afternoon coverage on demand, fastforwarding the tennis at the beginning. Just as the leaders started to manoeuvre with 1 km to go it stopped - unbelievable! We tried watching the following tennis show and it carried on at least until the various GC groups were finished.

On the Eurosport Player there were three options - one the full 4hr30mins playback, one 1hr30mins and one that was a 1hr programme. The 1hr programme had the GC contenders finishing but no interviews/classifications.

Heās joining CCC by all accounts.

Todays stage no rain (almost) and little wind 14 degrees.
-
• #21524
Yes that Masnada thing was incredible.
I'm pretty sure there weren't any team cars on the Mortirolo (too narrow), if so that must presumably have been a factor. The TV bikes clearly missed, forgot about him or just didn't have enough bikes.
Androni Giocattoli - Sidermec must be pissed off. Your rider gets third on the queen stage and almost zero screen time.

Rumours that Carapaz will be joining Ineos next year.
Oooof... the Mortirolo looks awful
