This one’s amazing

You know how something sometimes ends up more than the sun of its parts?
This is the opposite somehow.

Considering other options since current frameset does not fit but I have a hard time finding a frameset that correspond to what I want, figured it might more correspond to a sscx:
-steel frame + steel fork
-clearance for 700*28 or ideally 32C for both front and rear
-rim brakes (ideally calipers but if not canti)
-horizontal dropouts (for "track" hubs)
-ideally not longer than 53 top tube (52.5 would be great)
Seems almost impossible to find, or I certainly do not look in the right places, any ideas?
EDIT: aaaaand... not too expensive of course -

That's basically a pompino.
Or a second hand old path frame.

• #4132
Yeah a pomp

Crosscheck, nature boy

The original, steel Charge Plug.

(for "track" hubs)
The slight issue your going to have is the rear spacing, a nature boy is 130mm, a crosscheck is 132.5 . I have a nature boy and a crosscheck which I've run with 135 and 130 hubs, both fixed and freewheel no problem, but it might be a hassle getting the hub spaced correctly. (just something to consider)
If it 120 rear spacing you need, perhaps a small mash works would be about right.

Brother Cycles Allday, I've run 33c with caliper brakes on. I've got a 54cm 2018 black frame in stock at Velo Domestique (can post) if that helps?

• #4137
Yeah fair. I use a planet x ss conversion kit and it's fine, but probably slowly killing my freehub

@VeloSurMer thank you very much for the suggestion, seem to be pretty much spot on with what I am after! but it is above my budget for a frameset (was after 350-400€ max), might have to source one second-hand
@HousecatHST mash work seemed great but waaaaay above my budget -
• #4139
yeah, my bad, I'd missed the budget edit,
Could also consider the Cinelli Tutto, which is the Mash Works after cinelli stopped working with mash. They seam to be a more reasonable price.

All city Big Block - the geometry isn't really one of a sscx, but otherwise, it would fit your description.

If you stick to steel then putting rim brake mounts (presumable v/canti?) on something that doesn’t have them is an easy task.
Vaz probably does these at a reasonable price or someone like @PhilDAS maybe. I’m about to put v brake posts on a Genesis IO for a mate (I’m in Glasgow though).
Do you want to be singlespeed or fixed? In my experience fixed works best on 120mm rear spacing. Singlespeed can be made to work on anything depending on hub choice. Have you already got wheels?
Genesis Day One might be an option? It’s got the tyre clearance, newer ones are disc but I reckoned I could have added canti posts to the seatstays when I had one, the fork would definitely take it.

On that note, I'm trying to sell my rim brake Day One. Converted to 1x10 but I have the original rear wheel and fork to go with it.

Toying with the idea of getting something lightish with drops, but SS and with ~32c tyres and discs. Will mainly be for commuting.
Something like a Trek Crockett but a fair bit cheaper - say around £600 for a second hand complete. Are there options out there other than an Arkose? Could go steel but all my other bikes are steel so quite fancy carbon/alu (though steel with carbon fork an option).

• #4145
edit you said disc

• #4146
Pinnacle Dolomite SS is £600 brand new
-
• #4147
Cheers, is a decent option but probably looking for something a bit more exciting second hand. Might keep an eye out for a frame and build it up from there.

Nature boy has eccentric bb now

Dam that's nice!
But eccentric BBs are a pain in the arse.

Would do a 360 and sell my brompton to get this for my prommuter again.
