save yourself the trouble..
99% of the sellers won’t reply to your message a) because they will only talk to you via phone, b) because you didn’t approach them in italian. google translate seems to do the trick in some cases :)
of the remaining 1%, 99% will not want to post, even within italy.. :D

Yes, I think you’re right. But when you see a gorgeous C40 in Lampre colour in good condition going for 1000 Euro, it’s hard not to dream.

you can try.. write a message in google translate and ask if the seller has watsapp. if he/she does, you have better chances. also, only ask one question at a time.

I’ve done it a couple of times without any issues.
Once by post not problems at all.
Second time I had to fly out as seller wouldn’t post but price was so good I flew out and stayed over one night flew back next day.
Are you looking on subito?

Hi dj02. Yes.
Of course going there would be the best thing but not possible for me at the moment.
Do you mind me asking how you paid and which carrier was used? Was it insured?
Thank you.

I always use Trans Global Express for overseas shipping 👍 cost depends on dimensions of box and weight of course.
It only cost me £50 with DHL to get a Steel Scapin across from the US this last week through Trans Global Express.

Being an Italian living in Uk I am happy to help with the language or similar ... just ask.
Oh yeah, I don’t do it for free I usually ask for a pint in exchange ;-) -

That’s very kind of you user100433. Italians certainly knew how to build a beautiful bicycle; makes some of the modern stuff look awful.

That is because some of the modern stuff is awful!

I had a decent experience myself. Bid on a mint mk1 C40 frame and fork in Mapei Black from Italy and won. The seller posted it to me for an additional £28 and it arrived within 4 days. All very smooth. Cost me a grand total of £448 - I was one happy man!

That c40 is lovely
Lot’s of lovely Colnagos at very sensible prices being advertised on various sites in Italy. Would anyone even consider getting one posted back to the UK considering all the potential things that could go wrong?
Anybody done it?
Been looking for a nice traditional geometry size 53 (Top-tube 53 or 53.5) for a while now.
