  • I'm having my fusebox and meter moved so they're more out of the way. What should I put on the wall for these to be mounted to? Just some MDF or something more substantial?

  • Ok. About the meter.

How far are you moving it? Anything less than 1 metre you need to talk to the supplier.

Anything over you need to talk to the distributor.

An electrian can move the distribution board but can't touch meters as they don't belong to you.

  • I'm not moving it, my electricity supplier is, less than a meter, and installing an isolator, so my electrician can install the new up to date (with surge protection) fuesboard safely.

I am also having the main fuse/electricity supply made safe by UK Power Networks, as the one I currently have, is massive, and covered with gaffa tape.

But I am having a wonderful time trying to organise these 3 different contractors to complete their various works in the most sensible order. I thought maybe if I could get the board installed on the wall, it would save a bit of time.
