Bought two pairs of Filson trousers in the sale. The cloth is so heavy the trousers won’t stay up with a belt. Have had to buy braces with a loop that attaches to the belt to get them to stay up.
Feel mortified that I am now wearing belt and braces but it does mean my Gransfors Bruks hand hatchet can now hang from my belt comfortably.

dickies overalls
First times I've seen this thread, but thought it was worth mentioning that the Dickies overalls I got have a very short body. I sized up and they are still borderline for crushing my balls when crouching.
Still they are cheap, have knee pad locators, reach-through pockets, and are easy on/off.

Similar experience here, the body on dickies overalls is too short but otherwise they are great for utility wear, pad knees are a wonderful thing.

This sounds great and like a by-word for quality, but isn’t it just a bit impractical having such heavy material for when you’re doing stuff? Wouldn’t a set of these be infinitely more practical as well as more comfortable?

pad knees are a wonderful thing
The other thing I like using for my motorbike is a gardening kneeling pad from the poundshop. It comes wrapped in plastic, so if you don't unwrap it it's actually more practical.
I've used fancier ones for gardening, but actually the really cheap light ones are best imo.

These are my trousers for walking dogs, minor household/garden chores but can then be worn with proper leather country shoes/boots and look a little bit smart. The heft of the woollen weave/cotton twill (one pair of wool and one pair cotton trousers) gives the impression they will last for years.
Often worn with a merino t shirt and then a shirt/jacket (Pendleton wool or heavy denim) so the braces are under the shirt and not having too much of a detrimental effect. Long term I may buy some cowboy style leather braces with belt loops if I can adjust to belt and braces.
Being able to hang things from my belt and not feel lopsided because the weight is spread across wide braces is so much more comfortable.

I'm on my second pair of these slightly ridiculous "Off-White" safety sneakers I discovered from an Instagram advert.
They're actually super comfortable with reinforced so sole and safety toe and they're very light and breathable. I swapped the insoles for some Nike ones.
Would recommend. Will buy again.
The mesh outer isn't the most hard wearing but it's a tradeoff for slightly less sweaty feet!

Absolutely fine to drive in, I wear them all day every day!
Can't comment on fit vs. other brands to be honest but they fit me nicely in my regular size!
They just feel like slightly hefty sneakers really!

Filson wax cotton trousers off eBay. They were 2nds - leg length not as per sizing tag. Want them for gardening, forestry stuff etc. Tough as nails but heavy and sweaty. Arrived this afternoon, after an hour of brush cutting the wax had completely melted, my legs are covered in wax and fuck were the trousers warm. Will be fantastic come winter time.
So heavy a belt can’t keep them up, so belt and braces agai - also means I can hang a hand hatchet or leatherman from the belt too.

Never wear waxed in summer, only make that mistake once..
I think at this time of year for those of us in full ppe the most important piece of workwear is talcum powder. I chuck it in my boots and ballistics first thing. The boys are still swimming after an 8hr day climbing but it makes a huge difference. As I’m dedicated to my pink hard hat which is sadly unvented there’s not much I can do there. -
