If you're camping, the flat under Kylesku bridge is a beautiful wild camping spot. And only a five minute walk from the Kylesku hotel (which did nice food when I did that route 12 years ago).
Agree that the north coast is a little dull once you get past Tongue (at least compared with the west coast).
If you have a little time for a detour, the road from Rhiconich out to Shegra is beautiful, and ends at a campsite, beach, and sea cliffs looking out west to Lewis.
