  • Dredging this back up to see what people are having luck with these days.

I probably need to buy a few 700 x 25 or 28c tyres soon. Would like good skid and puncture resistance but not looking for Schwalbe Marathon type levels of protection/weight.

I've been running Ribmos on my most used bike and think they are pretty good for skids and punctures and feel alright to ride, they are a bit pricey but its been lasting me pretty well so should probably just shell out on these again eh?

Saw Conti Ultrasport being mentioned a page or two back but there was mention of a 'Pro' model whichwasn't as good. Crc are now selling an Ultrasport II, anyone using them? The price is right and the reviews (for general use, not found anything fixed specific yet) are favourable...

I had a bit of a run of Vittoria Randos splitting on the sidewall rather catastrophically and it kind of put me off them for a while. I recently fitted one to a bike I don't ride too much/too far and it seems ok. I might have been over inflating them before. Maybe a bit shit to ride when you keep the pressure down?

Tried a Durano not so long ago, ripped it up pretty quickly. 2/10, would not skid again.

    Anything else worth looking at?

  • I haven’t been skidding in some years now but I always used to just stock up on zaffiros because they were under a tenner and only mildly shit.
Worth it even if they only last a couple months?

  • I actually have a set of zaffiro slicks on the wheels I was using at the velodrome. Might try one out on the street n see how it lasts.
