You can have mine. It plays the theme tune to Magnum PI. £40.

as eyebrows says, think you're looking at 68x103. sugino from outspoken/condor etc probably easiest option.
p.s. my exact same BB gave up on me this week, pretty much all of a sudden. crunching like a mother ucker!

Mine's been crunching for months. It's not broken until you can see the BB through the shell. :)

I've got a brand new Sugino 103mm available, it's OEM on the Langster (but unbranded sometimes), this one was fitted to a bike then swapped for a Miche without being ridden because the chainline wasn't close enough. Yours for £15 and if you bring you bike round I'll even fit it for you if you like :)
But, if it's a creaking noise, are you sure it's the BB and not just crank creak? If you've got a crank puller, try whipping them off, cleaning the crank and BB spindle, smidge of grease on the spindles then re-assemble TIGHT. Might be all you need?

dibs if others don't want it.

Yup, SE1, keep an eye on the thread I guess, or I'll PM if he doesn't bite. Cheers

Might also be the BB creaking in the shell. Happened to me recently but solved by removing BB, cleaning down, lightly re-greasing threads and re-installing.

or the chainring bolts, my chainring bolt creak

my floorboards creak.
it could be your floorboards. -

assuming a variety of things here
you need:
68x103mm- got that from specs on Evans's website:
linkso thats an english threaded, 103mm axle length BB.
It needs to be ISO tapered as well- assuming its a sugino crank, which means shimano is a no go.
could go with sugino messenger bb or maybe a miche primato.
Or campag.hope that helps :)
messenger crank is JIS by the way and indeed you need 103mm axle'd JIS bottom bracket....so sugino messenger BB all the way

But Sugino BBs are shit. Get a decent Shimano one and put the chainring on the inside of the crank.

you're right.

yes unfortunately they are. problem maybe is that on the messenger crank(not the Rd2 economy whatever they are called) there is ONLY the inside of the crank.......

Thanks for your advice - very helpful!
retro di corsa, many thanks for your offer, but I wouldn't be able to take it up for a couple of weeks as I've got loads on at work - so I'd offer it to hippy if he can take it off you sooner. I also like the idea the deep down hippy shows real affection for the cuntster!
Cheers guys!

Deep down? You mean when it's dead and buried. Hey, it has a certain appeal but that's mostly to the crazy kid BDW's stickerization for the nation. It was designed to be unappealing and it achieved that goal with ease :)

My Sugino BB is a rebadged job of dubious parentage. I thought it was my BB making some tragic dying swan noises but found that replacing the chain cured the creaking completely. Try that first if you haven't done already.

For anyone thinking about chainline on the Langster with a Sugino RD2, the correct bottom bracket depends entirely on the chainset. With a Sugino RD2 chainset (a road double), you will get a 45mm chainline with a 103mm JIS bottom bracket, and the chainring on the outside. By my reckoning, you could get the perfect 42mm with a 107mm bottom bracket and mounting the chainring on the inside.
Well, 130 miles a week since March has resulted in a terrible creaking noise. Anyone suggest a replacement bottom bracket for an 08 Langster. Got to be cheapish as I'm trying to spend money on a frame I'm building up. Oh, and what size axle will it require?
Cheers for any advice (oh and yes I have searched the posts for an answer!)
