• Heading in a new direction...
Unfortunately the 105 cranks hit the chainstay. Might go Deore 40/28.

  • What’s wrong with them? Lack of clearance for bigger tyres?

    Lovely bike

  • Lack of clearance for a chainring bigger then 34 without having a horrible chain line.

  • Here’s a Deore 38/26. The 38 and the smallest cog in the back are in a direct line. Less the ideal, but should be ok.

  • your yo eddy?

fucking jealousy levels just hit a new high

  • It’s my Yo Eddy as of today! Wanna be real jealous? It’s the last Yo Eddy made in Somerville. Apparently the power was turned off before the bike was done and it was finished in the parking lot. The attached is Lloyd from Fat City/Indy Fab/Seven talking about this bike.

  • Fucking awesome! Modern day folklore... always wanted one, never had one. Most, if not all my other ‘unicorn’ bikes have passed through my hands, including a TA skyway and a Hetchins, but this and a lotus monocoque thing have avoided me!!😂

  • So I need to replace the 150mm stem with something a little more stubby. The Syncros seatpost is a little beat and well the cranks di t match and that bothers me...
I’m gonna start by figuring out if I want to keep the drivetrain “vintage” 8 speed or go 1x11.

  • Cockpit shenanigans.

  • Not happy with cockpit, the offset on the Paul head on the seatpost was just to much. So ordered up a Thomson and it’s the wrong size. Used a shorter stem, and trying out some other bars.

  • I think I got the cockpit dialed in; SimWorks Steel stem and Ti bars, Thomson seatpost and Brooks Flyer saddle. I love the fact that my bars were made here in Somerville shipped to Japan where decals were applied and then shipped back to my shop in Somerville.

Front rack is a SimWorks that will be supporting a Swift handler bag. The rear bag will be supported by a Nitto Mark’s Rack as soon as the canti post mounts arrive.

    Things to be decided:

    1. Keep the 3x8 XTR drivetrain or install a 1x11 XT kit?
    2. Build 650b wheels with a dynamo?
    3. Fenders?

    1. Stick with 3x8

    2. How are you planning to get your brakes to work on a different wheelsize? (assuming existing wheels are 26")

    3. Yes, if they'll work with those tyres.

  • Handlebars ID?

    1. “Stick with 3x8” left shifter is giving me a hard time and missing shifts. May have to swap out anyhow.
    2. “How are you planning to get your brakes to work on a different wheelsize? (assuming existing wheels are 26")” Promax brake adapters.
    3. “Yes, if they'll work with those tyres.” We shall see, I might end up with some Super Yummy if I go 650.

SimWorks Ti Get Around bars, made in Somerville by Seven Cycles shipped to Japan where stickers were applied and then shipped to me in Somerville...

They were made by Brad at Seven who used to weld all the Geekhouses. Marty the owner of Geekhouse was trained by Mike Flanagan who finished this frame when he was at Fat City. It’s all connected dude...

  • They look just right, quite the carbon footprint though!

  • Went to go install these on the Fat Chance. BB is 122x72 not 113x68. We’ll I’ll have to get a UN at the shop today.
