  • Yes, and you won't pich flat if the pressures are high enough, but it means rather high pressures indeed on a loaded bike.

  • I rode nearly all of that climb though, because I refused to walk. So I didn't loose much time...

Wait, you rode up CP4 with 28mm tyres? How? :) I was just stuck all the time.

  • Komoot does that when you save a route, the summary sheet allows you to see road types

  • "Most" of CP4.

I "rode" up CP4 with 28s as well. I used the power of swearing to propel me towards the top.

  • And when you click on the surface type in edit-mode it loops through them. Very handy to quickly search for the gravel and off-road sections.

  • I've not signed up to Komoot yet. How does it compare with RWGPS? I'm not sure I could cope with a change AND all the feckin' routing.

  • can order them from Bike24.com
not sure if the link below will work.

I'm going to buy the GP Urban for general home use. Black chilli for the win. Will report back on the sizing. Could be a while tho.

For where the road type and surface split info is on OSMAND, that only appears when it is finished charting a route. Then you get the "details" option to click on to expand what is in the screenshots.

  • The climb was 10 kms and the last 5 where mostly impossible I thought. When skinny says he rode "most" of it, I would think that's like maybe 1 km of hiking?

  • You only need to sign up to download their routing file. Don't bother with actually using it.

It seemed pretty straightforward when I used it, a bit similar but with its own quirks. But why would you need an additional routing app?

  • I did all my routing in RWGPS last year. When a section was done I just uploaded it to Komoot to have a final check with the road surface types and made corrections/changes in RWGPS.

  • 28s that came to 30!

    True grit and stubbonness.

  • Pretty much this...

  • Ah, ok, I never use OSMAnd to do routes like that. I just stick the RWGPS routes I've made into it for a backup if RWGPS app and Garmin fail.

  • Yep, that made me chuckle when I watched it. I was "fucking motherfucking sonofabitchmotherfuckingcuntarrrrghfuckingshoesargh" all the way up and much of the way down. Didn't flat though. Did turn my shoes into a mess and my gooch every time I came off the bike I'd rip into my undercarriage. Should've had a dropper post! :)

  • Yeah, I don't want to learn another app. But I like that it shows you road type and RWGPS can be clunky with big files but yeah I don't have much time to spend doing a route let alone doing one in a new system so I'll be sticking with RWGPS. Signed up to Komoor though for the proper parcours files... which I hope they'll make available soon!

  • I could do that. Biggest thing for me is trying to avoid any banned roads.

  • One thing I've never worked out is how to use osmand to do tbt routing so I follow it like a satnav. When I've tried it turns into some kind of Halloween gamers app

  • If I'm down to the point where I'm using OSMAnd then I'm probably happy to simply have nav at all :)

  • Lot of banned roads this year?

  • I have no idea. I've only basically done the first bit which is already provided in the Race Manual. I don't even know which countries it goes through. :S

  • New light just turned up, colour is to differentiate from my other one.

  • RWGPS is much better I think. Mostly because you can use Street view. Komoot is better for rerouting via your phone. If you can get it to sync to Wahoo that is. It also seems to like bikepaths a lot which can be useful but is more often annoying. I have plotted routes in komoot then uploaded to RWGPS to edit. I have not used it that much but my impression is that it is not as versatile as RWGPS.

  • Shame they put the beefy plug on it instead of a USB!
(My Strada came with USB wire)

  • Yeah, they don't do the USB any more. My Six Pack USB charger died before RATN and I asked about them.
